Chris Rainey, who was expected to compete for the third spot on the depth chart as well as work in the return game, was released Monday morning. Coach Chuck Pagano did not give details of the decision, saying "It's an in house deal. That's all I'll say about that."

The Colts are especially thin at the RB position after the loss of Vick Ballard for the season yet again. They will have to look at some unproven players to fill the void left by Rainey, which should result in more touches for Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw.
