With both West and Dixon in the Ravens' backfield, Woodhead may have a hard time finding his way into carries, but that doesn't mean the Ravens won't line him up in the slot and let him find a way to get open. They have no clear cut top wide receiver and throw the ball more than any team in the NFL so there is plenty of opportunity for Woodhead to succeed in the offense this season.

Danny Woodhead to lead three-headed monster backfield in Baltimore?

Baltimore Ravens beat writer Ryan Mink believes the team "could employ a three-headed monster" backfield in 2017.

Fantasy Impact

The Ravens, who have tremendous depth at the running back position, could be a nightmare from a fantasy football perspective. Mink believes they "could employ a three-headed monster" backfield approach in 2017. Currently, Baltimore's RB depth chart consists of Kenneth Dixon, Terrance West and the newly acquired Danny Woodhead as the top three backs. While Buck Allen and Taquan Mizzell will likely compete for the fourth spot, sending the other to the taxi squad or waivers. However, with Dixon set to serve out his four-game ban for PEDs to open the year, both Allen and Mizzell's jobs could be safe until the former's Week 5 return. For Woodhead, barring injury, he is the safest RB to target in fantasy football drafts as his role on the team will likely be consistent throughout the course of the season -- he will be the Ravens' primary receiver out of the backfield/ third down back. For West, he is expected to enter the year receiving the bulk of the early-down carries until Dixon's return, at which time the latter will likely maintain that role for the duration. As volatile as Baltimore's backfield appears, I'd still target Woodhead as he is a solid fantasy producer when his health remains intact. In 2015, his last healthy season in which he played in all 16 games with the Chargers, he accumulated 178 touches for 1,091 total yards and nine touchdowns.
