The Ravens passing attack last year was solely lacking a possession style receiver that could give Jackson a reliable target in tough situations. Baltimore addressed this in a big way this off-season by adding the dynamic route-runner out of Minnesota in the first round. While Bateman's going to make an immediate impact for the Ravens, it might not lead to much fantasy production in this offense. Unless we see the Ravens completely alter their offensive strategy and lean more on the passing game, the overall opportunity simply isn't there for Bateman to enter into the weekly FLEX conversation. He'll be on the redraft radar this year, but more so as a waiver wire pickup that has some upside here or there versus a reliable weekly starter.

Rashod Bateman could be a Day 1 contributor, per beat writer

Rashod Bateman is earning high praise from his Baltimore coaches and teammates early this off-season.

Fantasy Impact

Bateman’s draft stock was hurt a bit by the shortened season in the Big Ten, but the former Gopher was electric as a sophomore. He recorded 60 catches and turned them into 1,219 yards and 11 touchdowns. Even as a freshman, he was very effective securing 51 balls for 704 yards, and six touchdowns. The Ravens threw the least in the NFL last season, but there appears to be an added emphasis on the passing game in 2021. Mark Andrews will likely continue to operate as Lamar Jackson’s No. 1 target. Marquise Brown however, has disappointed since being drafted in the first-round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The rookie receiver out of Minnesota has a great opportunity to step in and be the No. 1 wide receiver. Bateman’s talent is not in question, but the amount of targets he will see is. If he’s able to separate himself from the other receivers on the roster, fantasy managers should expect a very nice return on his current ADP. Bateman has top-30 potential in a hyper-efficient, albeit low-volume passing attack.
