Shazier is oozing with talent and has legitimate elite LB1 upside; however, staying healthy has been a serious issue for him as he's missed significant time in each of his first three seasons. I'm usually more optimistic than most when it comes to injury issues, but Shazier seems destined to be annually injured. And I don't think the departure of Lawrence Timmons is going to open up the type of opportunity most think for Shazier as Vince Williams is a very solid player in his own right. This said, I expect Shazier to be drafted as a LB1 (a price I'm not willing to pay) and therefore he likely won't find himself on many of my rosters in 2017.

Ryan Shazier beats Steelers wideouts in foot race

Kevin Patra reported Thursday that Ryan Shazier bested Antonio Brown, Sammie Coates and Markus Wheaton in a foot race during practice.

Fantasy Impact

The wicked fast linebacker showed his lightning fast quicks at practice yesterday. Perhaps the most underrated linebacker in the league Shazier is primed for a massive season in 2016 and he has Pro Bowl written all over him. Last year's playoff game against the Bengals saw Shazier record a ridiculous 13 tackles, two passes defensed and two forced fumbles. No other linebacker in the league possesses his sideline to sideline speed. The Steelers defense will be scary good this year.
