Saquon Barkley left the Eagles' Week 4 game against the Rams with a hamstring injury early on. His primary backup, Tank Bigsby, sustained what appeared to be either a hip or groin injury later in the game. That left Shipley as the last man standing.
Shipley played 29 snaps on Sunday and had 6-23-0 rushing. He had only one target and didn't catch it, but Shipley ran 15 routes on Sunday.
A fourth-round pick out of Clemson in 2024, Shipley showed off dual run-catch ability in college. As a sophomore, he had 1,424 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns in 14 games. He's a terrific athlete who also starred in track and lacrosse in high school.
Fantasy managers interested in adding Shipley will have to track the news on the Barkley and Bigsby injuries and scale their bids based on the available information. But it seems very likely that Shipley will be the Eagles' lead back this weekend when they visit the Jaguars.
Jacksonville has a stout run defense, but Shipley's pass-catching ability gives him multiple paths to fantasy value.
