Zach Vigil timeshares with Kelvin Sheppard
Undrafted rookie Zach Vigil didn't start Sunday when the Dolphins took on Washington, but he ended up playing the same number of snaps (19) at middle linebacker as the starter Kelvin Sheppard. This was part of the plan according to coordinator Kevin Coyle. “We’re going to play the best players as the season unfolds, and I think we’re going to give those guys a chance to establish who may be the starter or if we play two for quite some time because we’re getting a lot of production.†Coyle said.
4-3 middle linebackers are favorite targets of IDP leaguers because they tend to rack up high tackle totals. However, "starter" Kelvin Sheppard's value takes a hit with this rotation. Stay away until a clear starter emerges.
