The Arizona Coyotes have signed goaltender Darcy Kuemper to a two-year extension, worth an annual average of $4.5 million. (TSN)
Fantasy Impact:
Darcy Kuemper is getting rewarded for his work last season. Antti Raanta missed all but 12 games, and Kuemper stepped up in a major way. In 2018-19 Darcy Kuemper posted a 27-20-8 record, with a 2.33 GAA and a .925 save percentage. As far as 2019-20 goes, Kuemper will have solid stretches, but will ultimately share the net with Antti Raanta. We are likely looking at a timeshare in Arizona, and that is never ideal for fantasy. The goaltending situation is worth monitoring, as one of Kuemper or Raanta could take control. However, it is best to expect a split to start the season.
