Chris Kreider and the New York Rangers have come to terms on a seven-year contract extension that has a $6.5 million annual salary. (ESPN.com)

Kreider was one of the bigger names circulating in trade rumors during the days leading up to the deadline. He was to be a UFA by the summer and the Rangers realized they needed to get a long-term deal done or trade him to get their money's worth. His recent strong play most likely had an impact in convincing the Rangers to shell out the money to their talented forward. He has 24 goals and 45 points in 60 games.
