Ryan scored a goal and had three shots on net during Detroit's 3-2 overtime win versus Columbus. He also had one block in 14:29 minutes of ice time.
With the goal, Ryan is the first player in Red Wing history to score four goals in his first three games. He has been quite a pickup for Detroit this season after signing a one-year contract after being bought out by the Ottawa Senators. While the Red Wings may not be a playoff contender they are an improved team from last season and Ryan should be in your lineups as often as possible.
The NHL and NHLPA provided a joint media release on Wednesday morning announcing that Bobby Ryan will be taking part in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. As a result, he will be away from the team for an undetermined period of time.
The player assistance program was implemented in order for NHL players to have access to receive assistance if they are dealing with personal hardships such as addiction or mental health issues. Hopefully Ryan receives the help he needs and will be back on the ice soon. Until then, the Senators will be without the thirteen-year veteran that had contributed four points in 16 games so far this season.
Bobby Ryan will be a healthy scratch for Ottawa's matchup against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night. Head Coach, D.J. Smith confirmed the news and stated "the hardest 20 workers are playing tonight" and that "Ryan's production hasn't been great."
This is the first healthy scratch for Ryan since January of 2017. Obviously, this is pretty concerning for anyone with a fantasy stake in the 13-year veteran. However, it's not all that shocking considering he has only put up one assist and seven shots on goal in his last six games. Filip Chlapik draws into the lineup and will play on the fourth line.
Bobby Ryan picked up his 9th tally of the season on Thursday night when the Ottawa Senators defeated the Los Angeles Kings 4-1. The goal was scored on the power play.
Bobby Ryan is now up to 9 goals and 18 assists for 27 points through 42 games played this season. At this stage, Bobby Ryan is nothing more than a spot start in a good matchup for fantasy purposes.
After missing 3 games with a concussion, Bobby Ryan returned to the Senators lineup on Friday night and played 19 minutes and 30 seconds in the 4-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.
Bobby Ryan has just 18 points through 30 games played this season. His offensive production has been falling off for a couple of years now and seems to be continuing in that direction. There should be better players available on the waiver wire if Ryan is still on your fantasy team.
