Noah Hanifin

Noah Hanifin

Calgary Flames

Noah Hanifin logged 23:13 in ice time, while adding an assist in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Fantasy Impact: Hanifin is part of Calgary's top shutdown defense pair with Travis Hamonic. The duo should continue to see big minutes as the season rolls on. Hanifin has some fantasy value due to the minutes he plays and his role on the second power play unit, but he is not an elite defenseman in terms of fantasy production.

Noah Hanifin registered two assists in the Flames 4-2 win over the Oilers on Saturday night. Hanifin's first assist came on Derek Ryan's power play goal in the 2nd period. Hanifin followed that up with an assist on Elias Lindholm's game-winning goal in the third period.

Fantasy Impact: Noah Hanifin is a former first round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes, much like his teammate Elias Lindholm. He hadn't quite reached his potential with the Hurricanes before moving to Calgary for this season. Hanifin had a career high of 32 points last season. So far this year Hanifin has 0 goals and 7 assists through 20 games. At 21 years old there is still room for growth and it may take several seasons. At this point Hanifin is a good medium to deep league player with keeper/dynasty league possibilities.

Hurricanes D Noah Hanafin had a goal and a power-play assist in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Lightning.

Fantasy Impact: Over the last 10 games, Hanafin has a goal and two assists with a hideous minus-8 rating. It's hard to justify any Carolina D-man other than Justin Faulk.

Noah Hanifin scored a power-play goal in Thursday's shootout loss to the Bruins. Hanifin's second goal of the season was Carolina's only goal of the game.

Fantasy Impact: Hanifin is off to a solid start through the first quarter of the NHL season with two goals and seven assists. He's almost halfway to his 2015-16 point total of 22 (79 games) through only 23 this season.

Fantasy Impact: Despite his goal on Monday, Hanifin is still a volatile option for your fantasy roster. Currently -4 in the plus-minus column, Hanifin's goal might attract teams who need an emergency reserve, but potential owners need to be cautious of picking Hanifin up too quickly.
