Petr Mrazek struggles in loss to Bruins Sunday

Petr Mrazek allowed six goals on 25 shots faced by Boston's high-powered offense in Sunday's 6-2 loss.

Fantasy Impact

Mrazek has not looked good in the first two games of this series, allowing 10 goals during this time frame. It has yet to be determined if Mrazek will be a healthy scratch for Game Three this Tuesday night. If that is the case, Curtis McElhinney will be between the pipes for Carolina come game time.

Petr Mrazek allows four goals in loss to Bruins

Petr Mrazek surrendered four goals on 27 shots faced in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Boston Bruins.

Fantasy Impact

Despite allowing fours goals in Thursday's loss, Mrazek did keep the Hurricanes in the game until the final minutes of the third period. Bad penalties cost the Hurricanes dearly and there was only so much Mrazek could do to keep Carolina's hopes afloat. He will attempt to bounce back with a strong performance this Sunday afternoon in Boston for Game Two.

Petr Mrazek will not start Wednesday versus Islanders

Petr Mrazek will not start Wednesday night against the Islanders after sustaining a lower-body injury in Sunday's game.

Fantasy Impact

While Mrazek will not play in Game Three against New York, it is encouraging to hear that he did participate in Wednesday morning's skate with the team. The Hurricanes are hoping they can have Mrazek back by Friday evening for Game Four.

Petr Mrazek (lower-body injury) day-to-day for Hurricanes

Goaltender Petr Mrazek (lower-body injury) is considered day-to-day after sustaining an injury during the second period of Carolina’s Game 2 win over the New York Islanders on Sunday. It is unclear if he will be able to play in Game 3.

Fantasy Impact

Carolina backup Curtis McElhinney filled in admirably for Mrazek to close out Game 2, making 17 saves on 17 shots faced, though he was bailed out by the crossbar on a couple golden scoring opportunities for the Islanders. If Mrazek were to miss further time, it would certainly provide an additional challenge for a Carolina lineup that is already riddled with injuries.

Petr Mrazek with shutout for Hurricanes Friday

Petr Mrazek stopped all 31 shots he faced in Carolina’s 1-0 overtime victory over the Islanders in Game 1 on Friday. It was his second shutout this postseason.

Fantasy Impact

It has been a bit of a “Jekyll and Hyde” playoffs for Mrazek, as the goaltender has posted three performances with a sub-.900 save percentage, including a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of the Capitals in Round 1. He was terrific in this contest though. All in all, it has evened out to a .914 save percentage and 2.22 goals-against average for Mrazek so far.
