Petr Mrazek

Petr Mrazek

Carolina Hurricanes

Petr Mrazek allowed six goals on 25 shots faced by Boston's high-powered offense in Sunday's 6-2 loss.

Fantasy Impact: Mrazek has not looked good in the first two games of this series, allowing 10 goals during this time frame. It has yet to be determined if Mrazek will be a healthy scratch for Game Three this Tuesday night. If that is the case, Curtis McElhinney will be between the pipes for Carolina come game time.

Petr Mrazek surrendered four goals on 27 shots faced in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Boston Bruins.

Fantasy Impact: Despite allowing fours goals in Thursday's loss, Mrazek did keep the Hurricanes in the game until the final minutes of the third period. Bad penalties cost the Hurricanes dearly and there was only so much Mrazek could do to keep Carolina's hopes afloat. He will attempt to bounce back with a strong performance this Sunday afternoon in Boston for Game Two.

Fantasy Impact: While Mrazek will not play in Game Three against New York, it is encouraging to hear that he did participate in Wednesday morning's skate with the team. The Hurricanes are hoping they can have Mrazek back by Friday evening for Game Four.

Fantasy Impact: Carolina backup Curtis McElhinney filled in admirably for Mrazek to close out Game 2, making 17 saves on 17 shots faced, though he was bailed out by the crossbar on a couple golden scoring opportunities for the Islanders. If Mrazek were to miss further time, it would certainly provide an additional challenge for a Carolina lineup that is already riddled with injuries.

Petr Mrazek stopped all 31 shots he faced in Carolina’s 1-0 overtime victory over the Islanders in Game 1 on Friday. It was his second shutout this postseason.

Fantasy Impact: It has been a bit of a “Jekyll and Hyde” playoffs for Mrazek, as the goaltender has posted three performances with a sub-.900 save percentage, including a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of the Capitals in Round 1. He was terrific in this contest though. All in all, it has evened out to a .914 save percentage and 2.22 goals-against average for Mrazek so far.

Petr Mrazek made 23 saves out of 25 shots faced by the Capitals in Monday's 5-2 win.

Fantasy Impact: Mrazek has struggled this post-season only going 3-3-0 with a 2.67 GAA and an 0.895 SV%. Carolina will need to see a similar type of performance from Monday night's if they are to advance to the next round Wednesday.

Petr Mrazek played like a wall in his fourth career post-season shutout as the Hurricanes took Game Three by a score of 5-0 Monday.

Fantasy Impact: Mrazek stopped 18 out of 18 shots in Game Three's win over the defending champion Capitals Monday. The Hurricanes would love to see similar performances from Mrazek again this series if they are to dethrone the Capitals this post-season. Mrazek improves his record to 1-2-0 along with an 0.897 SV% and a 2.34 GAA.

Mrazek had 27 stops in the 3-0 shutout. The Canes have won 3 straight to start a season-long five game road trip and are one point out of a wild-card spot. It is Carolina’s second shutout in the past three and their first win at MSG since 2010.

Fantasy Impact: It was Mrazek’s second shutout of the season and his first win since making 25 saves back on Feb. 1st against Las Vegas. On the season Mrazek is 12-11-3 with a GAA of 2.71 and a save percentage of .898. Mrazek and fellow goalie McElhinney are becoming quite the duo for Carolina, searching to make the playoffs.

Carolina's PK was effective against four power plays, and Mrazek saved 34 shots, but it was not enough on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: In twelve starts, Mrazek has a record of 4-6-0-2, with GAA of 2.77 and save pct of .892. This is similar to last year in Philly, so this is what you get with him, making him a poor choice in fantasy.

Petr Mrazek stopped 20-of-21 shots during Carolina's 3-1 win versus Detroit as Mrazek was able to get an easy revenge win versus his former team. The Hurricanes fired 14 shots before Mrazek was finally tested at 13:31 of the first period.

Fantasy Impact: He is now 2-2-1 in five starts for the Hurricanes with a 2.64 GAA and a .888 save percentage. He is a quality spot fantasy start, playing behind a first-place Carolina team for fantasy purposes, but with the return of Scott Darling soon the long-term solution in goal for the Hurricanes is still uncertain.

Red Wings backup goalie, Petr Mrazek, saved all 36 shots the Oilers sent his way Sunday night, picking up the first shutout of the year for Detroit.

Fantasy Impact: Mrazek is trying to make his case to stay with the team after this year, and that motivation could make him useful a handful of times this year in the right matchup. But unless Jimmy Howard gets hurt, Mrazek is limited in what he can provide.

Petr Mrazek turned aside 24 of 27 shots to earn the win in Detroit's 6-3 victory over the Golden Knights on Friday.

Fantasy Impact: Mrazek is now 1-1-0 in the two games he has started this campaign with a 3.08 GAA, surrendering six goals on 59 shots (.898 SV%). Detroit actually trailed 3-2 after two periods, but the team responded with four unanswered goals, and Mrazek making stops on the Golden Knights' six shots on goal in the final stanza. It appears that Mrazek will be taking a backseat to Jimmy Howard as the Red Wings' No. 1 netminder, and it is anyone's guess how playing time will be divided between the pair.

Fantasy Impact: Mrazek lost his only game played this season against Dallas, surrendering three goals on 32 shots. Once considered Detroit's future No. 1 goalie, Mrazek has fallen out of favor because of poor performance and attitude, and has been relegated as Jimmy Howard's backup. The 25-year-old Czech will square off against a surprising undefeated Vegas squad that is sporting an average 3.00 goals for per game.

Petr Mrazek stopped 29-of-32 shots during Detroit's 4-2 loss to Dallas.

Fantasy Impact: Mrazek is trying to shake off a poor 2016-2017 season where he went 18-21-9 in 50 games played last year. Jimmy Howard appears to have grabbed the number one goaltender spot in Detroit, but Mrazek will get plenty of starts this season to reclaim his form from two seasons ago where he went 27-16-6 with a 2.33 GAA and a .921 save percentage.

Mrazek stopped all 42 shots he faced as he lead the Red Wings to a 1-0 shutout win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday.

Mrazek saved 12 of the 15 shots he faced after Howard left with a lower body injury in a 4-1 loss.

Fantasy Impact: He now has the chance to solidify his status as Detroit's #1 if Howard either misses time or Detroit dials back Jimmy's playing time to avoid another injury.

Mrazek allowed four goals on 25 shots but they won 6-4.

Fantasy Impact: This was not a great outing but there were positive signs. For one, he got the victory for his owners. The other positive sign was that after he fell down 3-1, he was allowed to finish the game this time instead of being pulled unlike his previous outing.

Mrazek allowed three goals on 17 shots before getting pulled in the second period.

Fantasy Impact: It is less than ideal to get pulled and allow Howard to get his first ice time since his injury but Mrazek is likely still the #1 goalie.

Mrazek came in after Howard was injured in the first period and went on to allow three goals on 16 shots before Detroit finally won in overtime.

Mrazek came in to start the third period down 5-0 and shut Montreal down for the rest of the night.

Mrazek allows four goals on 30 shots in the 5-3 loss. He was given a 3-2 lead halfway through the third period but could not hold it.

Fantasy Impact: This is the third straight outing that he has allowed four goals which is a troubling trend. If he continues, it will become hard to trust him as a fantasy option.

Mrazek allowed four goals on 40 shots in a 4-3 overtime loss Wednesday.

Mrazek allowed four goals on only 10 shots before he was pulled in the second period.

Fantasy Impact: He is not an elite goalie but he should be owned in most leagues. He does have upside though.

Mrazek allowed five goals on 35 shots in the 6-4 loss. He was spotted a 3-1 lead and entered the third period ahead but he could not hold the lead.

Fantasy Impact: He has potential and is the starter for a team that has a chance at the playoffs. He would not be among the first few selections I would make at the position but there are worse options to hitch your season to.

Category: , Game Recaps

Mrazek allowed only one goal on 24 shots but still fell 1-0 to end the Detroit season.

Fantasy Impact: SInce there are no more games, his impact will be minimal for rest of this season. Monitor going into next season what his role will be, as if he becomes the starter, he will become an interesting option.
