Teuvo Teravainen netted a goal Monday night against the Capitals just two minutes into the second period to tie the game up 2-2. Carolina would go on to win a critical Game Six at home to tie up the series and send it back to Washington.
Teravainen has been rather quiet this series only scoring a pair of goals and dishing out one assist along the way. If Carolina is to eliminate the defending Stanley Cup Champions, Teravainen is going to have be highly involved to accomplish this task.
Teravainen scored the game-winning goal on a breakaway in 3-on-3 overtime. It was a crucial game for both squads, with each team chasing a wild-card spot. With the 6-5 win over the Sabres, the Canes have back to back victories to start off their season-long five game road trip.
The OT goal was the second netter of the game for Teravainen. His first goal opened up the scoring for the game early in the first. Teuvo has 45 points on the season with 12 goals and 33 assists. A very explosive player to say the least.
Teravainen's three points, including a big goal in the third, thwarted a furious Flyers comeback attempt. The win for the Canes is their second straight against Philly.
This is Teravainen's first 3 point game since the Dec. 23rd home win over Boston where he tallied 4 points.
