Week 11′s Most Accurate Experts
With only 5 weeks left in the fantasy season, we’ve officially reached crunch time. The playoffs are on the horizon and it goes without saying that every decision made carries significant weight.
While the stakes are increasing for fantasy owners, they’re also going up for the experts in our accuracy contest. A quick glance at our YTD leaderboard shows the standings are incredibly tight, with the title of ‘Most Accurate Expert’ up for grabs. That means the pundits have more incentive than ever to make sure they’re providing excellent advice down the stretch.

Kudos to Zach Greubel (Win My Fantasy League) for having the most accurate predictions in week 11. Greubel secured the top spot by finishing in the upper portion of the ratings for each major position we track (QB/RB/WR/TE). His best call was slotting the week’s best RB, Marcel Reece, as a top 10 back. Only 14% of fantasy experts we monitored took a similar stance so rolling with the OAK RB gave Greubel a key boost vs. the competition. Greubel also made a few nice decisions when it came to several of week 11’s top WRs. He ranked the #1 WR, Andre Johnson, 4 spots ahead of the expert consensus and he also slotted another top 10 wideout, Randall Cobb, 5 places ahead of the field. Those picks served as key contributions to a well-deserved #1 rating .

There were no major changes atop the year-to-date leaderboard this week. Jody Smith (Gridiron Experts) is holding down the fort as the #1 expert for the 6th straight week while the Sablich Brothers (The New York Times) are right on Smith’s heels in 2nd place. The biggest mover in the standings is Pat Fitzmaurice (Pro Football Weekly), who shot all the way up into the top 10 (#22 last week) on the strength of a successful week 11. This is the 4th season Fitzmaurice has participated in the competition and he has been among the top 11 experts every year. Therefore, it’s no surprise to see a late-season run from him. Of course, the big question is whether or not Fitzmaurice or anyone else can make enough of a push to overtake Jody Smith down the stretch. It’s clearly something we’ll be monitoring as we inch closer to crowning 2012′s accuracy champion.
That wraps up our accuracy recap for this week. We’ll be back again after the games this weekend to provide another update on the top experts. In the meantime, we hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Best of luck with your upcoming fantasy matchups as well.
