How will Joseph Randle’s injury affect Dallas’ backfield?

Hopefully, your fantasy team is not hampered by injuries in the way that the Buffalo Bills are. Thankfully, Buffalo got to fly home from London because if the team had to play all of their games there, let’s face it, they would be relegated to the Canadian Football League. Here’s a quick wrap-up of the injuries from Sunday’s contest.

  • Phillip Dorsett (IND WR) fractured his left ankle and is expected to be out for four-to-six weeks. The rookie wide receiver has averaged under two catches per game, with just one touchdown, so he shouldn’t be on anyone’s roster at this point.
  • Arian Foster (HOU RB) suffered the most significant injury during Week 7’s action, rupturing his Achilles tendon during the fourth quarter of yesterday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins. Foster is an outstanding running back when healthy. Sadly, he has only played in all 16 games in just two of his seven seasons. Considering career injuries to his hamstrings, back and now his Achilles, it is very difficult to see the Texans bringing him back next season, as Foster will be a free agent at the end of the year. Alfred Blue is now the top running back on Houston’s depth chart but, with the team struggling with a 2-5 record, I don’t expect much production from him.
  • Vincent Jackson (TB WR) left Sunday’s game against the Redskins during the third quarter because of a knee injury, though he expects to be fine for next week. With fellow Tampa Bay wide receiver, Louis Murphy, lost for the season, suffering an ACL tear Sunday, look for Mike Evans to get extra attention from opposing defenses. Look for rookie Donteea Dye, who caught his first career touchdown this week, to get some looks from Jameis Winston to try and take some of the focus off of Evans.
  • Jeremy Maclin (KC WR) was expected to play in this week’s contest but was surprisingly inactive. My best guess is that he experiences some setback with his symptoms to cause him to miss this week. After the forthcoming contest against Detroit, the Chiefs have a bye. I expect Maclin to be out until Kansas City plays Denver on November 15.
  • Josh McCown (CLE QB) was replaced with Johnny Manziel late in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Rams because of a shoulder injury. After having an MRI on Monday, McCown is considered day-to-day. If you combine the shoulder injury, Cleveland’s 2-5 record and the fact that McCown was just coming back from a concussion, one should expect him to miss next week’s contest.
  • Joseph Randle (DAL RB) injured an oblique muscle during Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants and is considered day-to-day. This is very similar to what he battled during the preseason so I would expect him to be out for at least two weeks. The bulk of the carries in the Dallas backfield will go to Darren McFadden. McFadden is an injury risk himself, so look for some increased work for Christine Michael, who could be a cheap option at the flex position depending on the matchup.
  • Matthew Stafford (DET QB) continues to get pummeled, as he was sacked seven times during Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings. After the game, he had X-rays on his left hand. The good news is the X-rays were negative. The bad news is Stafford still plays behind Detroit’s horrible offensive line. For the remainder of the season, Stafford is a risky play because one of these hits is going to knock him out at some point.
