He made up for lost time on Sunday, putting three into the seats including a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning that gave the Reds a come from behind, walk-off 9-5 win over the Nationals. Votto’s first two home runs were solo shots off starter Edwin...

There's no doubt McCutchen has 30-30 potential. Now in his fourth year in the majors, this is the year he will realize that potential. Though he has already achieved 30 steals one year in his career (2010), I'm more confident in him getting to 30 homers than 30 steals this season. He hit a career-high 23 last year, and all his relevant peripheral stats are trending in the right direction. In addition...

Key Stats: Joey Votto joined Miguel Cabrera and Jose Bautista as the only players in baseball to score, drive in, and walk more than 100 times. In other words in OBP leagues, this is a top ten pick and maybe a top five pick. Votto has now driven in and scored more than 100 runs in two straight seasons. Skeptics Say: Votto’s numbers dropped off across the board last year. The number that is most concerning...

“Votto is a hitting beast on a less-than-stellar team. There was some trade talk at the end of 2011 and I say great, his value can only go up on another team willing to "buy."”

“Votto led the NL in on-base percentage for the second straight season. Awesome OPS. Home run to flyball percentage dropped from 25 percent in 2010 to 18.2 percent in 2011. Declining stolen bases. Horrible SB/CS ratio. ”

“One year removed from his MVP season, Joey Votto is still a monster of a hitter. I wouldn't expect him to hit .324 with 37 HR again, but he should be able to fall somewhere between 2010 and 2011. A .315 avg with 33 HR and triple digit R and RBI seems like a fair prediction. Votto is in his prime, and is the youngest of the top-tier First Basemen.”

“Votto is a fantastic hitter. His K% and BB% is right where you want them to be for optimal success, but I'm afraid that he will never reach the HR total he did in 2010. This could be because his line drive rate went through the roof. All this guy does it hit lasers. If enough of them leave the yard, you might get the best hitter in baseball. Essentially, this guy goes, .300, 30, 100, 100, 10 falling out of bed. His ceiling is a little higher then those numbers, but his floor isn't far off. That makes him an extremely safe pick with literally no downside.”

“Joey has proved he has the potential to play like a 1st round pick. He also has proved that his power potential may not break the 40 HR plateau. He still has the chance to break double digit steals again, but you are looking more at a 30-100-10 option if anything. Mark Reynolds goes at least 8 rounds later and will put up those same numbers, minus the batting average.”
