Top-10 Draft Prospects: Tight Ends
Will Hunter Henry be the first tight end selected in this year's NFL Draft?

Will Hunter Henry be the first tight end selected in this year’s NFL Draft?

The tight end position, in general, has become depleted in fantasy. If you are fortunate enough to have Rob Gronkowski, then consider yourself lucky. For those who don’t, it’s hard finding a quality starter week in and week out.

The draft has produced a few good ones though over the last couple of years. In 2013 Tyler Eifert, Travis Kelce, Jordan Reed and Zach Ertz were drafted. The 2014 draft produced Eric Ebron

And last year, Maxx Williams was drafted. It may take a couple of years for this year’s group of tight ends to produce, so while they may not be fantasy relevant this year, they could be good dynasty picks in the future.

Hunter Henry (TE – Arkansas)
Henry was first-team All-SEC in 2015 and was last year’s Mackey Award winner (the nation’s top tight end). Henry has the best hands and route running of all the tight ends in this class. He needs to work on his blocking at the line of scrimmage a bit more, but should be an excellent fit in a pro-style offense.

Projected Round: Round 2

Austin Hooper (TE – Stanford)
The Cardinals have a history of producing NFL tight ends, most recently Ertz. Hooper has everything he needs to succeed at the next level.

He has size, strength, and athleticism. Like most young tight ends, he needs to work on his in-line blocking, but everything else looks good.

Projected Round: Round 2-3

Nick Vannett (TE – Ohio State)
Vannett is an every down tight end that can help both in the running game, as well as the passing game. Vannett could be a sleeper pick in this year’s draft. While he may not produce right away, he is an excellent pick for dynasty leagues.

Projected Round: Round 2-3

Jerell Adams (TE – South Carolina)
Adams put up just serviceable numbers while in college, although they did improve each year he was there. Adams could be a value pick for whoever drafts him but probably won’t produce much in terms of fantasy.

Projected Round: Round 3-4

Tyler Higbee (TE – Western Kentucky)
Higbee started out as a wide receiver for the Hilltoppers and ended his college career as a first-team All-Conference USA tight end. Higbee tied for the nation lead among tight ends with eight touchdowns last year. He is a good prospect for dynasty leagues.

Projected Round: Round 4

Ben Braunecker (TE – Harvard)
Braunecker was a three-year starter and team captain at Harvard. The question remains how he will transition from playing in the Ivy League to now playing in the NFL.

Projected Round: Round 4-5

Bryce Williams (TE – East Carolina)
Williams was an All-American Athletic Conference pick last year. He is an amazing athlete and could be a dark horse Day Three pick.

Projected Round: Round 5

Beau Sandland (TE – Montana State)
Sandland was a junior college transfer but showed an ability to play the position. He’ll most likely be a backup for a year or two before he gets a chance to play at the next level.

Projected Round: Round 5-6

Temarrick Hemingway (TE – South Carolina State)
Hemingway went unrecruited while in high school before ultimately deciding to play at South Carolina State. He is a very raw talent that will need to develop a lot before being given playing time.

Projected Round: Round 5-6
