Baltimore Ravens
Breshad Perriman (WR – BAL)
I don’t like it any more than you do, but who else is there? The potentially fantasy-relevant Ravens with first round pedigrees are Perriman, Joe Flacco, Trent Richardson and Benjamin Watson. There are former fantasy stars like Justin Forsett and Steve Smith, though they likely won’t be playing much longer. After that, there’s an ocean of limited upside players like Javorius Allen, Terrance West, Kamar Aiken, Mike Wallace, Keenan Reynolds, Crockett Gillmore, Dennis Pitta and Maxx Williams.
Any of those guys could become fantasy relevant, but no one has higher upside than Perriman. He could be the top receiver in Baltimore, which has value with a quarterback who can throw the deep ball like Flacco.
Cincinnati Bengals
A.J. Green (WR – CIN)
Green has given his owners at least 1,000 yards in each of his first five seasons, and there’s no reason to think he’ll stop any time soon. Just 28 in July, Green is one of the top receivers in the league. Andy Dalton will keep him from putting up the sort of insane numbers we’ve come to expect from the likes of Julio Jones and Antonio Brown. Still, he’s a consistent contributor and will put more on the stat sheet than teammates Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill.
Cleveland Browns
Corey Coleman (WR – CLE)
Like Baltimore, the Browns lack a clear blue chip fantasy player. Robert Griffin III and Josh Gordon were once considered top shelf dynasty assets, but their various issues make each barely worthy of a spot at the end of a roster.
That means we’re left to choose between Corey Coleman, Duke Johnson, Isaiah Crowell and Gary Barnidge. Coleman turns 22 in July and was the first receiver chosen in the draft, so he presumably has a higher career ceiling than the other three. It’s entirely possible that he won’t be a viable fantasy starter for a few years, but he could eventually provide something akin to what Gordon did in his glory days.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Antonio Brown (WR – PIT)
Brown and Le’Veon Bell are the top two dynasty assets in the AFC North, but they just so happen to play on the same team. In fact, either could make the case for being number one depending on the scoring system. The slight edge goes to Brown because he hasn’t had the injury problems that have plagued Bell. Both are capable of monstrous, league-winning seasons. Despite being three years older, Brown’s health and consistency make him the safer pick.
