Last week was a good example of making sure to double check starting goalies and lineups before the games begin. My write-up featured John Gibson as the goalie, but later that day it was announced that backup Jonathan Bernier was getting the start in net. I was able to easily swap out the two before the start and enjoyed his 26-save shutout and the win. There are nine games scheduled for tonight’s slate and I was able to find some hot players at value prices to use in my lineup for tonight.
Here are tonight’s likely goalies with high win probabilities in order of Vegas Line favorite
- Braden Holtby (WAS): $8,300 @ DAL -140 Favorite

- My cash game lineup for tonight
Let’s take a look at tonight’s lineup.
Center
John Tavares (NYI): $6,800 vs. LA
Are you looking for someone who is on fire for tonight’s lineup? Tavares has seven goals in his last four games for a total of 32 fantasy points. The Islanders will be at home against Los Angeles tonight, but at this point, I would start Tavares no matter who the opponent the way he is playing.
Evgeny Kuznetsov (WAS): $5,300 @ DAL
I like Washington’s matchup at Dallas tonight. The Capitals have won nine of their last 10 games and have scored at least five goals in seven of the last 10. In his last three games, Kuznetsov has one goal and three assists, producing 12 fantasy points in that span.
Wing
Josh Bailey (NYI): $4,800 vs. LA
With Tavares being as hot as he is, Bailey is a nice compliment to him in my lineup. In his last four games, he has one goal and four assists for a total of 19 fantasy points.
Andre Burakovsky (WAS): $3,700 @ DAL
Burakovsky is a nice value option for my lineup tonight. He will likely be on the power-play with Kuznetsov and has been on a hot streak scoring three goals and three assists in his last four games for a total of 20 fantasy points in that span.
Jonathan Drouin (TB): $5,500 @ ARI
Drouin is a nice cash game play because he plays around 20 minutes per game and consistently gets shots on net. In his last four games, Drouin has two goals and one assist with 17 shots on net in that span. The Lightning have a good matchup tonight against the struggling Coyotes.
Defense
Erik Karlsson (OTT): $6,700 @ TOR
Karlsson is one of the better offensive defensemen in the game, yet he is $1,500 cheaper than Brent Burns of San Jose. He has a point in each of his last four games producing five assists and 18.5 fantasy points in that span and should play close to 30 minutes tonight against rival Toronto.
Dmitry Orlov (WAS): $3,800 @ DAL
Orlov is a good defensive pairing with the other two Capitals in my lineup and he comes with a good price as well. He has two assists in his last three games and has scored a total of 8.5 fantasy points in that span.
Goalie
Ben Bishop (TB): $7,800 @ ARI
Bishop is likely to start tonight in a good matchup against Arizona who has lost their last four games and are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games. In his last three starts, Bishop is 2-0-1 allowing two goals or less in each one of them.
Utility
Kyle Turris (OTT): $5,400 @ TOR
Turris is a good cash play to complete my lineup tonight. He will likely play on Ottawa’s top power-play unit and is on a nice five-game stretch where he has produced three goals and three assists for a total of 26 fantasy points.
Make sure to double check lineups and particularly the starting goalies prior to the first puck drop as they can be subject to change.
