FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Wednesday (12/5)

After a bit of a bizarre evening in the NHL last night, we have a small, three-game slate. Although there are just six teams taking the ice this evening, there are some interesting matchups. Both the Ducks and the Blackhawks have shown no sign of defense, while the Hurricanes are among the leagues Corsi leaders. Edmonton is in St. Louis for a game which features two of the most disappointing teams the year. Let’s break down these three games and find some of the best DFS options.

Center

Jordan Staal (CAR): $4,700 @ SJ
Even though the Sharks landed the most sought-after defenseman during the offseason, San Jose has struggled to keep the puck out of the net during even strength. They have allowed 64 goals against during 5 on 5, good for 29th in the league. While they do limit the power-play goals against, Jordan Staal will get extra ice-time on the man-advantage. The Hurricanes lead the league in CF% and shoot the puck at will. There will be plenty of fantasy points to be had for Carolina tonight, led by Staal.

Ryan Getzlaf (ANH): $7,100 vs. CHI
His price is creeping up to the top-tier, however, he has been producing. The Ducks captain has 22 points in 23 games. Coming off a three-point night in Washington, Getzlaf is on fire and should be able to find success against Chicago. The Blackhawks are a measly 3-6-1 in their last 10. They are now one of three teams who has allowed 100 goals against this season and will be in tough this evening against a red-hot Ducks team. Load up on the Ducks with confidence.

Wing

Teuvo Teravainen (CAR): $5,100 @ SJ
The third forward on the top line for the Hurricanes is Teuvo Teravainen. He will correlate with his linemates on the power-play and is a great addition to a stack in tournaments. Teuvo is certainly more of the playmaker on this line, however, he has shown the potential to shoot the puck.

Rickard Rakell (ANH): $7,300 vs. CHI
Now with two goals and seven assists in his last five games, Rakell and the Anaheim Ducks are rolling. They are on a four-game winning streak and will have the pleasure of hosting Chicago. Rackell will log time on the top power-play unit and be looked to for offense tonight.

Evander Kane (SJ): $6,300 vs. CAR
Carolina has a good offense and should produce. However, San Jose should not be taken lightly now that they are on a homestand. Evander Kane is a great one-off for the Sharks who is very capable of scoring any night. He plays on the top forward line and is a true goal scorer. Now with seven goals on the season, expect Kane to get heavily involved in a high-scoring affair.

Defense

Brandon Montour (ANH): $4,400 vs. CHI
Averaging close to 25 minutes of ice-time per game now, Brandon Montour has turned into a top pairing defenseman who also quarterbacks the top power-play unit. Cam Fowler is out with an injury and Montour has been the largest beneficiary. In a game which will be up in pace, Montour should have plenty of opportunities to produce offense.

Erik Karlsson (SJ): $6,100 vs. CAR
After an emotional return to Ottawa and an Eastern Conference road swing, Erik Karlsson will look to stay motivated in an important home game. He has been given a lot of criticism since joining the Sharks in the offseason. However, Karlsson has produced to the tune of 16 points in 28 games. While this is certainly low for Karlsson the expectations were extremely high. Karlsson could easily be priced over $7,000 so take advantage while you can.

Goalie

John Gibson (ANH): $8,600 vs. CHI
The Ducks are -160 favorites tonight at home against a struggling Chicago team. John Gibson has continually kept his team in a position to win games. Gibson could arguably be the leading candidate for the Hart Trophy given his 2018-19 performance. Although the Blackhawks could score tonight, Gibson and the Ducks should win this game.
