Jalen Guyton having ‘fantastic’ offseason, per head coach

ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry identified wide receiver Jalen Guyton as an under-the-radar player who has made a name for themself this offseason. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Head coach Brandon Staley praised Guyton for his impressive work as of late, saying, “Jalen Guyton was fantastic in the offseason. This guy made a lot of big plays for us in the spring. He came in, physically, just in great shape. He’s moving great. I thought that he was able to move around. He really did a nice job on special teams.” Although Josh Palmer has been taking first-team reps alongside Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Guyton certainly remains in the mix as the offseason continues. In 2021, he caught 31 passes for 448 yards and three touchdowns. He also made his returning debut last season, totaling 32 yards on two kickoffs.

Justin Field’s offseason growth impresses Bears

According to an ESPN article by Courtney Cronin that cites multiple current Chicago Bears players, Bears QB Justin Fields has impressed during the team’s offseason program and has grown significantly as a leader entering his second NFL season. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Fields, who was the 11th overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, has received rave reviews from his teammates this offseason. Fields will be entering the season as the Bears’ unquestioned starting QB for the first time in his career after beginning his rookie season backing up veteran QB Andy Dalton. Based on his teammate’s comments, it appears Fields has fully embraced a leadership role on the team and has been praised for his work ethic and command of the offense. Fields made nine starts as a rookie and was mostly ineffective, but he showed flashes of his potential throughout the season, especially in his final two starts. Fields’ fantasy upside is largely tied to his athleticism and rushing upside and he’s a popular sleeper to sneak into QB1 territory in his second year as a pro. The Bears didn’t do him any favors this offseason in regards to upgrading the skill position players around him and the team isn’t expected to contend in 2022. With that being the case, Fields will likely be playing from behind frequently which in turn will increase his passing volume and scrambling opportunities, a positive for fantasy. Fields is currently ranked as the QB16 according to FantasyPros ECR.

Terrace Marshall makes “massive leap” ahead of second season with Panthers

According to Carolina Panthers star RB Christian McCaffrey, WR Terrace Marshall has made “a massive leap” in improvement in his second offseason after injuries hindered his development as a rookie. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Marshall’s rookie season was no doubt a disappointment largely due to injuries. Marshall spent the majority of last year’s offseason program sidelined as he recovered from a lower leg and foot injury he suffered while at LSU, and his rookie season was ultimately cut short after just 17 receptions when he was placed on season-ending IR. Panthers’ HC Matt Rhule recently indicated that Marshall should be an integral of the Panthers’ WR rotation, and early offseason reports suggest that he has the inside track to claim the team’s WR3 spot behind D.J. Moore and Robbie Anderson. Marshall is currently ranked as the WR82 according to FantasyPros ECR and he may end up being a great value pick if these offseason reports ring true.
