Carson Wentz (QB – WAS)

• Zero upside

Sam Darnold (QB – CAR)

• Over/under 0.5 games started for rest of career

Ezekiel Elliott (RB – DAL)

• Elliott has had back-to-back subpar seasons (for him), and he’ll be 27 years old when the season starts. Pollard is an elite handcuff who will continue to see regular action in a change-of-pace role, and he could see more usage in the receiving game without WRs Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson. 2016 was a LONG time ago.

Chase Edmonds (RB – MIA)

• This guy has been “about to break out” for years. Over the past four years, Edmonds has failed to beat out a past-his-prime David Johnson, a retread Kenyan Drake, and an oft-injured James Conner. Each season, it looks like it’s gonna be Edmonds SZN — and then it isn’t. The Dolphins presumably brought him in to be their lead back, but they also signed Raheem Mostert and then Sony Michel. To new Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel — Kyle Shanahan’s former run game coordinator (2017-20) and offensive coordinator (2021) — running backs might be fungible assets, which makes Edmonds a risky investment.

Adam Thielen (WR – MIN)

• I’m low on the Vikings’ offense relative to the other rankers. Thielen is aging (32 years old when the season starts). The offensive line is average. And I’m dubious that new HC Kevin O’Connell actually is the second coming of Sean McVay, given that in his one year as an offensive coordinator without McVay (2019, WAS) he oversaw the offense that scored the fewest points in the NFL (16.6 points per game).

DeAndre Hopkins (WR – ARI)

• Had a sneakily subpar season in 2021

Robert Woods (WR – TEN)

• A 30-year-old possession receiver recovering from an ACL injury on a new team with a run-first offense … thank you, no.

Cameron Brate (TE – TB)

• Outlasting Gronk doesn’t make him Gronk
