Will Brock Purdy Play in Week 15? (2022 Fantasy Football)

Brock Purdy arrived on the scene in Week 14 and became Mr. Suddenly Relevant in fantasy circles. He threw two touchdowns, going 16 for 21 with 185 yards and rushing for a TD himself in San Francisco’s 35-7 drubbing of Tampa Bay. Unfortunately, Purdy suffered an oblique injury near the end of the game and is now listed as questionable for Thursday Night Football against the Seahawks. The injury isn’t considered severe, but it’s a short week for the 22-year-old. If he does play, Kyle Shanahan’s ability to structure a game around QB talent makes him a high-upside QB2. So will Brock Purdy play in Week 15? Here’s what we know.

Brock Purdy (oblique) questionable for Thursday

Brock Purdy (oblique) is questionable to play in Thursday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Impact

Purdy injured his oblique in Sunday’s blowout win over the 49ers, and it will leave him questionable to play on Thursday. It’s not considered a severe injury, but it could be enough to knock him out on the short week. If that’s the case, Josh Johnson would likely be the 49ers’ starting quarterback, which would be bad for the fantasy value of San Francisco pass-catchers.

What the Experts are Saying

Is Brock Purdy a good QB? Not really, but he sure has looked solid in his two games in relief of the injured Jimmy Garoppolo. It goes to show just how perfectly this 49ers offense insulates its QBs from the treachery and pitfalls that can plague young or talent-challenged players. Purdy is smart and plays with good rhythm – something that will show up well in the stat sheet on a consistent basis under Kyle Shanahan. The remaining schedule for the fantasy playoffs is incredibly favorable, even if 49ers WR Deebo Samuel misses time with an ankle injury.

Over the last two weeks, Brock Purdy ranks 8th in passing EPA and 3rd in PACR (Passing Air Conversion Ratio). He owns a 4-to-1 TD/INT ratio. Mr. Irrelevant is very much on the streaming radar in a plus-matchup versus the Seahawks in Week 15.
-Andrew Erickson

Purdy had 22 fantasy points last week and he plays a Seahawks D that is 22nd against fantasy QBs. If he is healthy enough to start this week, he is an upside QB2 on the road on a short week.
