News and Notes

  • It was originally Giovanny Gallegos taking over as the lead closer in the Cardinals bullpen with Ryan Helsley (forearm) on the IL, but Jordan Hicks has found himself also in the picture leading to a committee for St. Louis in the meantime.
  • The Reds are the hottest team in the MLB, leading to a number of save chances for Diaz this month, and he has yet to blow a save so far this season.
  • It has been the complete opposite for Bednar, as the Pirates have lost 10 games in a row.
  • After it was a committee for the Cubs most of the season, we’ve seen Alzolay take a slight edge for save chances in the Cubs bullpen.
  • In the Yankees bullpen, Holmes has seemingly taken a slight hold back of the closer role after a slow start to the season.
