Fantasy Football Injury Outlook: Austin Ekeler, Saquon Barkley, Deebo Samuel (Week 4)

Welcome to Week 4. As always, don’t forget to check sportsmedanalytics.com for your injury updates throughout the week, and hit us up on Twitter/X @FantasyPros and @SportMDAnalysis.

Now, here we go. Here’s my outlook for all notable injuries for Week 4. And below we dive into a few different players.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Injury Report

Deebo Samuel (WR – SF)

TBD. Data projects 60% chance of sitting due to the double injury. Rib contusions do have mild performance impacts, but are most often played through. However, battling the knee sprain in conjunction would suggest he misses one week and returns Week 5.

Austin Ekeler (RB – LAC)

Very likely sitting. He would be beating average timelines by 1 week to return at this point, but the vast majority of RBs would return Week 6 (they have a Week 5 bye). Re-injury risk 5 weeks out is relatively low at ~15%, but efficiency projects to dip for his first 2-3 games back.

Saquon Barkley (RB – NYG)

TBD. Lean towards sitting. The extra day does help, and Saquon has a history of returning quickly. But even factoring that in, our algorithm still rates him a 2/3 chance of sitting. If he does play, expect limitations in workload and efficiency, as well as high re-injury risk.
