Dynasty Trade Advice: Dameon Pierce, Deshaun Watson, Kendre Miller (2024 Fantasy Football)

It’s officially the offseason, which means we need to look at our dynasty fantasy football rosters and evaluate where things stand. I’m one of those people who’s always optimistic about my chances, as well as the players I roster. But at some point, you need to move on.

These are the players I’ve either been out on for a few months or am just done with now that 2023 has ended and teams are making moves heading into the offseason.

2024 Dynasty Fantasy Football Guide

Dynasty Players To Give Up On

Deshaun Watson (QB – CLE)

If you haven’t given up on Deshaun Watson by now, you might never do it, but he’s still worth making this list. His 2023 season was underwhelming, to say the least. He only played in six games and scored an average of 14.5 fantasy points per game, 26th among quarterbacks. He threw for seven touchdowns to go with four interceptions. He was the epitome of “meh” to me.

If you’re still holding out hope for dynasty, it might be time to rethink things. He’s signed with the Browns, and they look like playoff contenders next season, but I’m still out on Watson right now. His best days just seem to be behind him, whether you want to admit it or not.

Dameon Pierce (RB – HOU)

This time last year, Dameon Pierce looked like a stud on the rise. I remember trading him away for Najee Harris in a league. Granted, both took a nose dive in 2024, but I feel very happy about that now. Pierce might just be one of those rookie wonders, and with how the Texans are moving forward, he might not be in the long-term plans at all.

That’s not to say Pierce is bad, per se. He just wasn’t used at all like we expected in 2023. He finished with a meager 76.7 PPR points, pacing as the RB55 in 14 games. Pierce was on the field, but they just didn’t use him. He saw an average of 11.6 touches per game. He only broke double-digit PPR points three times and scored fewer than one point twice. I wasn’t out on Pierce entering the season, but I’m leaning that way now.

Kendre Miller (RB – NO)

It’s hard for me to say exactly what happened with Kendre Miller this year. There was a lot of chatter about teammate Alvin Kamara offloading some work, but he was a workhorse when he returned from his three-game suspension. Even in the eight games that Miller played, he only really mattered in two of them. The Saints had a lot of problems in 2023, so maybe this was more related to the system as a whole than Miller alone.

However, if Miller couldn’t see the field more on a team in disarray, I’m not sure that bodes well for a team looking for a direction, either. The Saints could be one of those dark horse candidates to turn things around, but I’m just not sold on Miller being the running back to help them do that. I’m fine moving on from him now before the team signs or drafts someone else and muddies things up even more.
