Thursday’s NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions: Jalen Brunson, Chet Holmgren, Lauri Markkanen (2/29)

Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.

NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (2/29)

Jalen Brunson (G – NYK): 0.5 steals

Brunson has been a revelation for the Knicks this season, exceeding expectations and carrying the load while the Knicks weather the injury storm that has hit their frontcourt. We all know he’s been lights out as a scorer, but he has also shown that he can be a pest on defense, recording at least one steal in each of his last five games and in seven of his last eight. Brunson is dealing with a neck injury, so he is listed as questionable for tonight, but if he suits up, he should be good for at least one swipe against a Warriors team that has allowed 1.88 steals per game to the point guard position. Jab the More on Jalen for Thursday night.

Pick: More

Chet Holmgren (F/C – OKC): 8.5 rebounds

Chet has been excellent for the Thunder in his rookie season, helping transform a young and upcoming team into a legitimate threat in the loaded Western Conference. Averaging 17.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.7 steals, and 2.7 blocks per game, Holmgren is pushing Victor Wembanyama hard in the rookie of the year race. Chet has hauled in nine or more rebounds in four of his last five and is an excellent bet to do so again tonight against Wemby and the Spurs. Chet had just eight rebounds in his first meeting against the Spurs but hauled in nine last time. Clap the More on Chet for Thursday night basketball.

Pick: More

Lauri Markkanen (F – UTA): 1.5 steals + blocks

Lauri is back on track (or off track) and has now failed to hit two StOcks in 12 of his last 13 games and in 21 of his last 25. The Less on Lauri has been money since it became a staple of this column and is an easy tap whenever it is on the board, regardless of opponent. Light up the More on Lauri for Thursday night basketball.

Pick: Less

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
