Dynasty Rookie Draft Lottery Tickets

Kimani Vidal (RB – LAC)

I’m not entirely sure Kimani Vidal qualifies as a lottery ticket at this point because his average draft position (ADP) is on the rise as I write this article. Vidal’s lottery ticket status is simple — he’s in a run-heavy offense with a new coaching staff and a revamped running back room that consists of a 29-year-old early-down and goal-line back in Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins, who has suffered multiple significant injuries that often send running backs to the end of their career. Vidal’s path to lead back is clear and he can earn a meaningful workload through his three-down back capabilities.

Spencer Rattler (QB – NO)

I’ll be blunt — I’m not a fan of Spencer Rattler. I believe he has a limited ceiling, he peaked in college and his trajectory in the NFL is that of a career backup. That said, his landing spot is advantageous and I can see a path for him to fall into an opportunity similar to Aidan O’Connell in 2023. O’Connell was third on the depth chart behind a questionable veteran quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo and a fill-in option in Brian Hoyer. O’Connell was given the job for the remainder of the season after their failures. In New Orleans, Derek Carr could be benched at any time and Jake Haener has yet to play a down in the regular season. Rattler could see action this season if Carr struggles.

Isaac Guerendo (RB – SF)

Drafting a San Francisco running back is always a dart through. Draft capital has been routinely irrelevant for the 49ers. Trey Sermon and Tyrion Davis-Price failed while late-round pick Elijah Mitchell and undrafted free agent Jordan Mason secured roles. Isaac Guerendo doesn’t fit the physical build for Kyle Shanahan’s typical backs. But, Guerendo’s athleticism and pure speed are a fantastic fit for San Francisco. Guerendo had a near-perfect relative athletic score (RAS) and could thrive within Shanahan’s system. He has an uphill battle for snaps and will have to contend with Mitchell for a consistent backup role. But if Guerendo can earn favor with Shanahan, his time will come.
