Welcome to Sleeper Picks. Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Sleeper is quickly becoming one of the most popular season-long fantasy platforms, and they are expanding into other areas based on demand. Each week in this space, we’ll talk about some strategy for the new platform while providing our favorite NBA more/less picks.
NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (1/29)
Cade Cunningham (G – DET): 19.5 points (alt line)
Cade has been excellent for the Pistons this season. He has played at an all-star level all season and will find out on Thursday if he gets the tap to be named an all-star reserve. Averaging 24.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 9.4 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game, Cade undoubtedly has some of the best numbers in the association and is playing for a Pistons team that is actually competing for a playoff spot. Cade has scored 20 or more points in each of his last nine games and is in an excellent position to score at least 20 tonight against an Indiana Pacers team he has dropped 28 and 24 points on in his two games against them this season. Clap the More on Cade for Wednesday night basketball.
Pick: More
Tyrese Maxey (G – PHI): 24.5 points (alt line)
Maxey continues to roll for the 76ers, dropping 43 points on the Los Angeles Lakers last night. Maxey has scored 28 or more points in each of his last 11 games, averaging 31.7 points per game. Tyrese is at a 26.6 scoring average for the season but has been forced to up his volume due to injuries. Maxey scored 27 points on Sacramento earlier this month. Mash the More on Maxey for Wednesday night’s NBA action.
Pick: More
Karl-Anthony Towns (F/C – NYK): 19.5 points (alt line)
KAT should be all the way up for tonight’s matchup against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. He put up 30 points and 15 rebounds when he faced them earlier this season but is now dealing with a sprained thumb on his shooting hand. The injury makes the full line of 24.5 more of a risk, as Towns has hit 25 points just once in his four contests since the injury. KAT has, however, scored 24 or more in two of those games while hoisting at least 17 shots in each. That sort of volume will lend itself well to him hitting at least the 20 points needed for the alt line. There are, of course, multiple attractive double double plays, including on KAT, Jokic, and Domantas Sabonis, but this has a slightly higher multiplier and does not run the risk of expiring before game time. Tap the More on Towns for Wednesday night at Sleeper Picks.
Pick: More
Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
