4 Burning Questions for the 2025 NFL Draft: Over/Under Betting Picks

The 2025 NFL Draft is nearly here. After months of preparation, the three-day event is about a week away. However, no one knows what will happen after the Tennessee Titans draft Cam Ward with the first overall pick.

For this edition of NFL Draft Burning Questions, we are going to change it up. I will dive into the betting market and look at some positional first-round over/until totals. Let’s jump into the world of NFL Draft betting.

2025 NFL Draft Burning Questions

Over (+120)/Under (-150) 2.5 Running Backs Selected in the First Round?

Last year’s running back class lacked firepower. However, this year’s group is outstanding. Yet, there will likely only be two running backs drafted in the first round. Ashton Jeanty is a first-round lock and a likely top-10 pick. Meanwhile, Omarion Hampton’s draft stock has been heading in the right direction. The former North Carolina star is a near-lock to be a first-round pick, possibly coming off the board as early as 10th overall to the Chicago Bears.

Many NFL Draft experts believe Jeanty and Hampton are superstar prospects and a clear-cut tier above the rest of the running back class. However, others believe TreVeyon Henderson could sneak into the late first round of the NFL Draft, potentially landing with the Washington Commanders at 29th overall. Yet, the Commanders have more pressing needs on defense, including edge rusher. Therefore, bettors should only expect Jeanty and Hampton to get drafted on Day 1.

Over (-270)/Under (+205) 2.5 Wide Receivers Selected in the First Round?

DraftKings has Travis Hunter listed only as a cornerback. Therefore, taking the over on 2.5 wide receivers drafted in the first round is a closer call. However, bettors should expect at least three wide receivers to come off the board on Day 1 of the NFL Draft. Tetairoa McMillan, Matthew Golden, and Emeka Egbuka are near-locks to be first-round picks, potentially all three off the board before the Green Bay Packers pick 23rd overall.

While those three wide receivers should be first-round picks, we could see as many as five first-round off the board on Day 1. Luther Burden III will be either a late first-round pick or an early second-round selection. Furthermore, Jayden Higgins’ draft stock has been one of the hottest over the past few weeks and could sneak into the first round. Meanwhile, don’t be surprised if a team surprises everyone and drafts Jack Bech on Thursday night.

Over (+115)/Under (-145) 15.5 Offensive Players Selected in the First Round?

The 2024 NFL Draft had 23 offensive players come off the board in the first round, breaking the previous record of 19 in 2009. Furthermore, the first 14 picks of last year’s draft were spent on offensive players, including six quarterbacks. While the 2025 NFL Draft class doesn’t have the same offensive firepower or elite quarterback class as last year’s group, I’m still taking over 15.5 offensive players drafted in the first round.

There are 14 offensive players who are first-round locks. Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, Ashton Jeanty, Omarion Hampton, Tetairoa McMillan, Matthew Golden, Emeka Egbuka, Tyler Warren, Colston Loveland, Will Campbell, Armand Membou, Kelvin Banks Jr., Josh Simmons, and Grey Zabel should be Day 1 selections. Therefore, it only takes two of Jaxson Dart, Luther Burden III, Jayden Higgins, Josh Conerly Jr., Tyler Booker, and Donovan Jackson to get drafted in the first round for the over to hit.

Over (-140)/Under (+110) 8.5 Defensive Linemen/EDGE Rushers Selected in the First Round?

Every mock draft has the Tennessee Titans drafting Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick. Yet, three of the following four picks will likely be defensive players, including two defensive linemen or edge rushers. Abdul Carter and Mason Graham are first-round locks and likely top-five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, they won’t be the only defensive linemen or edge rushers to hear their name called inside the top 15 picks this year.

Georgia’s Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams should join Mike Green as top 15 picks. Furthermore, Shemar Stewart, Kenneth Grant, and Derrick Harmon are first-round locks. Therefore, only one of Walter Nolen, James Pearce Jr., Donovan Ezeiruaku, and Oluwafemi Oladejo must get drafted on Day 1 for the over to hit. Ezeiruaku has been one of the hottest names in the draft class recently. No one should be surprised if he is a top-20 pick.
