The best players in the world play on NFBC. The most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event, which has a $1,750 buy-in with a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully, for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their FAAB pickups on Sunday night.
Each week, I look at the most popular fantasy baseball waiver wire and FAAB pickups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should add them.

Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups
Jordan Beck was the most added player this week, being picked up in 53 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $335 and a minimum bid of $49. Beck had five home runs over a 24-hour span, which led to the huge influx of bids this weekend.
However, his underlying numbers are still terrible, striking out over 34% of the time and making contact in the zone a paltry 76% of the time. There is some pop and speed, but the lack of a hit tool will likely lead to people regretting spending so much.
Agustin Ramirez was picked up in 52 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $493 and a minimum bid of $153. Ramirez is a top-50 prospect who has started his career on fire, hitting .391/.440/.957 with three home runs and a stolen base in just 25 plate appearances.
The bat has never really been in question for Ramirez, but he struggles behind the plate. He won’t hit for a great average once he cools down, but there is power in the profile. He should get plenty of time at catcher and designated hitter for the rebuilding Marlins.
Nick Kurtz was picked up in 47 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $557 and a minimum bid of $145. Kurtz is a top-25 prospect who made his debut this week. He demolished the Minor Leagues, hitting .321/.385/.655 with seven home runs and 24 RBI in just 20 games at AAA.
Kurtz has started slowly, but the approach is really good, and there is a ton of power in a great home park. The A’s should be patient with him. He is a must-add waiver wire pickup in all formats.
Emerson Hancock was picked up in 44 leagues with a max bid of $155 and a minimum bid of $3. Hancock was a popular pickup after the news of Logan Gilbert‘s elbow injury this week. Hancock will be locked into a rotation spot with Gilbert and George Kirby out, but he has struggled in his Major League time.
Hancock was good in AAA, but until he can figure out the command, there is too much downside to take the gamble on him.

Jesus Tinoco was picked up in 41 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $88 and a minimum bid of $1. Tinoco has gotten two of the Marlins’ last three saves, but this is a committee with Calvin Faucher and Anthony Bender.
Tinoco’s skills were really good last year, but they haven’t been as impressive this season. He will factor into the ninth inning at times if you are desperate for saves.
Will Vest was picked up in 36 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $313 and a minimum bid of $38. Vest has three saves for the Tigers over the last 10 days, but this is another committee. At least Vest is on a good team and seems to be the 1A in the equation in Detroit.
The Tigers have become notorious for fluid bullpens, so I wouldn’t expect Vest to be the guy the rest of the way, but he has value while on the main closer.
Porter Hodge was picked up in 29 leagues with a max bid of $145 and a minimum bid of $2. With Ryan Pressly dealing with a knee injury and struggling, Hodge registered a save last week.
Hodge is probably the better pitcher at this point and could take the role over very soon, which makes him a great speculation add if he is still available in your leagues.
