Finding good starting pitchers can be a weekly struggle. I aim to solve this headache during this season by finding the best pitchers, every week, who are on most waiver wires. I will use the FantasyPros streaming pitchers tool to find league roster percentage information.

First, let’s take a look at last week’s picks:
- David Peterson (vs. PIT): 6.0 Innings, 7 Strikeouts, 2 Earned Runs, 5 Hits, 3 Walks (No Decision)
- Brayan Bello (@DET): 4.2 Innings, 4 Strikeouts, 2 Earned Runs, 6 Hits, 2 Walks (No Decision)
- Michael Lorenzen (@HOU): 7.1 Innings, 5 Strikeouts, 4 Earned Runs, 7 Hits, 1 Walk (Loss)
- AJ Smith-Shawver (vs. WSH): 6.0 Innings, 6 Strikeouts, 0 Earned Runs, 2 Hits, 2 Walks (Win)
- Chad Patrick (vs. MIN): 6.0 Innings, 2 Strikeouts, 3 Earned Runs, 8 Hits, 1 Walk (No Decision)
Total: 30.0 Innings, 24 Strikeouts, 11 Earned Runs, 28 Hits, 9 Walks (0-1)
David Peterson started the week off strong, but no one besides AJ Smith-Shawver was able to continue the excitement. Although everyone except Brayan Bello pitched a quality start, allowing many hits and low strikeouts diminished their performances. In this upcoming week, we will target more strikeouts.
Without further delay, below are my picks for pitchers to stream during Week 9, from Monday, May 19, to Sunday, May 25.
Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitchers
Monday, May 19
Ryan Pepiot (SP – TB) vs. HOU | 21% Rostered
If Ryan Pepiot is available in your league, he is a nice streaming option against the Astros. Pepiot is in the middle of a down year, particularly due to his fastball. Players are batting .311 on Pepiot’s four-seamer this year, compared to just .181 in 2024. This is problematic because Pepiot throws his fastball 42.4% of the time. However, in his most recent start against the Blue Jays, Pepiot’s fastball improved, and he struck out five batters. The righty is worth a chance against the Astros, who rank in the bottom half of hitting stats.
Alternative: Hunter Dobbins (SP – BOS) vs. NYM | 3% Rostered
Tuesday, May 20
Mitchell Parker (SP – WSH) vs. ATL | 11% Rostered
Mitchell Parker is a solid pitcher. The 25-year-old is in his second MLB season and is solidifying his role as a starter, with a slightly below average 4.32 ERA (3.90 xERA) and 1.30 WHIP. Parker would not gain much attention as a streamer, outside of his matchup against the Braves. Parker is a lefty, and the Braves are batting just .208 against lefties this season, the third-worst across the majors. In addition, Parker has allowed just one homer all season, so he should be able to limit damage when Braves players reach base. The southpaw is a great streaming option.
Alternative: Erick Fedde (SP – STL) vs. DET | 11% Rostered
Wednesday, May 21
Logan Evans (SP – SEA) @CWS | 1% Rostered
Logan Evans is finding his footing in the majors. He shut the Padres out for six innings on May 16 and has been great for three out of four starts. His second career start against the Rangers led to a six-run implosion, but a recent scoring change reduced his earned run tally to just one. Stream Evans against the White Sox, who rank in the bottom five for all major hitting categories.
Alternative: Chad Patrick (SP – MIL) vs. BAL | 5% Rostered
Thursday, May 22
Tobias Myers (SP – MIL) @PIT | 2% Rostered
Thursday is one of those dreaded days without many good streaming options available. The best waiver option for this day appears to be Tobias Myers. The 26-year-old possesses a frightful 6.1 K/9 ratio yet a more promising 3.86 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. A starter with okay ratios is the most you can ask for against the 15-30 Pirates. Again, this is a weak day for streamers, but Myers is a decent option.
Alternative: Lucas Giolito (SP – BOS) vs. BAL | 8% Rostered
Friday, May 23
Clarke Schmidt (SP – NYY) @COL | 12% Rostered
I love the Clarke Schmidt matchup in Colorado. I am not breaking news when I tell you the Rockies are having a rough season. They are yet to reach double-digit wins, and it is mid-May. Schmidt has sky-high win potential in this start, as well as strikeouts – the Rockies lead all MLB teams with 432 strikeouts. On paper, this seems like the best matchup of the week.
Alternative: Jackson Jobe (SP – DET) vs. CLE | 18% Rostered
Saturday, May 24
Justin Verlander (SP – SFG) @WSH | 12% Rostered
Justin Verlander is still in the league, and he has shown dim flashes of former glory. The 42-year-old has four quality starts in his last five outings. The future Hall of Famer has largely settled in after his first few starts and has a 2.78 ERA across his five most recent appearances. Feel free to stream Verlander against the Nationals.
Alternative: Jonathan Cannon (SP – CWS) vs. TEX | 2% Rostered
Sunday, May 25
Ben Brown (SP – CHC ) @CIN | 8% Rostered
Ben Brown has been getting phenomenal strikeouts from his knuckle curve pitch. Overall, the Cub starter has 10.8 K/9 in 2025. He has shone in his last two starts against the Marlins and Giants, where he struck out 15 in 10.1 innings. Brown does not protect ERA and WHIP ratios – he has a 4.75 ERA and 1.56 WHIP. However, he is one of the best streaming options for strikeouts this week and should find success against the Reds, who strike out the fourth-most in baseball.
Alternative: Davis Martin (SP – CWS) vs. TEX | 1% Rostered
