The best players in the world play on NFBC. The most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event, which has a $1,750 buy-in with a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully, for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their FAAB pickups on Sunday night.
Each week, I look at the most popular fantasy baseball waiver wire and FAAB pickups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should add them.

Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups
Cade Horton was picked up in all 57 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $337 and a minimum bid of $45. Horton is a highly regarded pitching prospect who debuted for the Cubs last week.
Horton has great stuff, but can struggle with command and control. If he can keep the command and control in check, there is a ton of upside with his strikeout ability on a good team in Chicago.
Brett Baty was picked up in 48 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $81 and a minimum bid of $2. Baty has been on fire since his return from the Minors, hitting .333/.333/1.083 with three home.
This is just a hot streak, but he is making better contact. If he can keep the contact up, there is breakout potential. However, he has struggled to do that for extended periods.
Addison Barger was picked up in 48 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $53 and a minimum bid of $4. Barger has been crushing the ball, registering a 96.1 average exit velocity and a 13.6% barrel rate.
Barger is making a lot of contact and his xBA is .300. There might be a nice little breakout coming.
Stephen Kolek was picked up in 45 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $76 and a minimum bid of $2. Kolek has pitched well since joining the Padres’ rotation, including a complete game shutout against the Rockies over the weekend.
Kolek has struggled with command and control in the Minors. While he has pitched well so far in the Majors, he has faced two terrible teams, and the schedule is getting tougher with a matchup this week versus the Mariners.

Tim Elko was picked up in 43 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $94 and a minimum bid of $1. He was crushing AAA, hitting .348/.431/.670 with 10 home runs and 23 RBI.
Elko has a lot of power in his bat, but he has struggled making consistent contact. He was making better contact in AAA this season, but he will need to keep that at bay in the Majors to display his power.
Landon Knack was picked up in 41 leagues with a max bid of $75 and a minimum bid of $3. He was great in his first start back from the Minors, but he was facing the Marlins.
Knack has struggled with walks this year. While he has the Dodgers’ offense behind him, he likely won’t be able to go deep enough into games to register a win very often.
Yoan Moncada was picked up in 39 leagues with a max bid of $52 and a minimum bid of $3. Moncada has played well since returning from the injured list (IL), hitting .268/.375/.714 with two home runs in his first six games back.
Moncada has always had talent, but has struggled to stay healthy. If he can stay on the field, he could have deep league appeal and potentially shallow league viability, especially if he can hit second or third, which he has the last few games.
Hyeseong Kim was picked up in 28 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $175 and a minimum bid of $5. Kim has been good since being called up by the Dodgers, hitting .318 with two stolen bases.
There isn’t much power to speak of, but Kim can make a lot of contact and steal bases. He is on the strong side of the platoon, which limits his upside, but he could be a batting average and speed booster for deeper formats.
