You can’t plan for the future without understanding the past, so it’s worth looking at which experts have published accurate rankings in the past. Welcome to the results of FantasyPros’ 2024 fantasy football draft rankings accuracy competition!

Fantasy Football Draft Rankings: 2024’s Most Accurate Experts

In Memoriam: Anthony Cervino

This year’s competition sadly marks the passing of Anthony Cervino, a longtime member of the fantasy community and respected analyst and podcast host. Anthony was a long-time correspondent on the FantasyPros news desk. He was well-loved by colleagues and fans alike for his insight and kindness. He leaves a lasting impact on the fantasy industry through his content, the relationships he built and the example he set. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans as we approach the next season of the game he loved.

Methodology

Before we get to the results, a quick note on how we measure accuracy. This is a milestone year – the 10th year using our current accuracy methodology, which you can see the full details of here. For each position, we compare an expert’s rankings to final standings by comparing the expected value communicated by the expert’s rank for a player to the value of their actual finish. This gives an expert a lower-is-better “error” for each player in the player pool. We rank experts at each position by total error score, and our overall accuracy leaderboard uses the total error for QB, RB, WR and TE (we track DST, K and IDP, but they don’t impact the overall leaderboard). The player pool is determined by a cutoff rank for each position, where we consider any player who finished above the cutoff, or was ranked above the cutoff by preseason ECR. This way we avoid including players who are irrelevant in typical leagues, but include both breakout players and surprise busts, so we can reward the experts who saw them coming. Those cutoffs are the top 25 QBs, 50 RBs, 60 WRs, 20 TEs, 20 DSTs, 20 Ks, and 40 each of LB, DB and DL. The relative impact of QB, RB, WR and TE on the overall leaderboard is driven by the relative sizes of their player pools.

  1. Congratulations to Kevin English of Draft Sharks for winning this year’s overall accuracy competition! This adds to an impressive resume that includes two other top-10 finishes, and ranking higher than the average expert in each of the past 10 years. English achieved this by succeeding at the two most important positions: a 12th-place finish at WR and 2nd place at RB. To do so well at both is a rare feat – only one other expert achieved a top-20 finish at both. A big contributor was his ability to find value in the middle rounds with players like Khalil Shakir, Xavier Worthy and Amari Cooper, all of whom he correctly predicted would outperform their consensus rank.
  2. Our second place winner is Jody Smith, managing editor of FullTime Fantasy! Smith is a fixture of the fantasy community and this contest – like English, he has participated in all 10 years of the current form of the contest, and ranked better than the average expert every time. This builds on a strong top-20 result last year, and is Smith’s’ second top-10 result in just four seasons. Smith took a balanced approach, with solid scores across the board and excellent top-15 results for both QB and RB.
  3. The third expert on the podium is Jeff Ratcliffe of FTN Fantasy! Experience breeds success as evidenced by all three of our top finishers being 10-year veterans of the contest. You can feel good about trusting Ratcliffe’s rankings in 2025 because he has shown remarkable year-over-year reliability. This is not just his second top-10 finish but his seventh ranking 23rd or better, and has never finished outside the top third of experts.
  4. Our fourth place winner should be a familiar name to longtime fantasy players, it’s Sean Koerner from The Action Network! Koerner has a reputation as one of the most consistently accurate experts in the industry and it’s deserved: this adds yet another top-5 finish – his fifth – to an already legendary resume. This pairs with a 3rd place finish in this year’s in-season accuracy competition, his third-straight top-5 finish in a contest he has outright won 3 times and where he’s never done worse than 14th.
  5. Rounding out the top 5 is FantasyPros’ very own Andrew Erickson! Erickson achieved this through a mastery of receivers – he ranked in the top 5 for both Wide Receivers and Tight Ends, the only expert to rank top-5 in multiple positions. He leads the pack in what turned out to be a very successful year for FantasyPros experts.

Most Accurate Experts By Position

Overall accuracy is important, but we also like to recognize the experts who nailed each individual position, including DST, K and IDP, which don’t impact the overall leaderboard. Here are your #1 experts for each position!

Congratulations once again to the most accurate username in the industry, MasterIDP aka Leo McNeely, founder of RPO Football! MasterIDP exploded onto the scene in 2023, ranking 3rd for draft and 1st for in-season IDP accuracy in his first year. It turns out that was a down year, because it followed it up with #1 finishes in both competitions for 2023 and 2024. For those keeping score, thats 5 gold medals and a bronze in three years. If you play in IDP leagues, you should absolutely be listening to the master.

Multi-Year Accuracy

Last year’s results are important, but if you want to forecast whose advice will be effective in the future, it’s worth looking at long-term results. For that purpose we track a rolling 3-year accuracy leaderboard to find the experts who are most consistently accurate. You can see the full results on our multi-year accuracy page.
