The best players in the world play fantasy baseball on NFBC. The most popular high-stakes contest is the NFBC Main Event, which has a $1,750 buy-in with a $7,000 league prize and a $200,000 overall prize. Thankfully, for everyone, NFBC allows us to see what each team is doing with their FAAB pickups on Sunday night.
Each week, I look at the most popular fantasy baseball waiver wire and FAAB pickups in the NFBC Main Event to see who the best players in the world are picking up and whether we should add them.

Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups
Chase Burns is a top pitching prospect for the Reds, who was fantastic in his first start, which is why he was picked up in all 57 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $409 and a minimum bid of $61.
Burns has great stuff, but can struggle with command and control, which was on display during his second start, where he struggled. There will be ups and downs, but the upside is so immense that he should be rostered in all formats.
Jake McCarthy was picked up in 55 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $99 and a minimum bid of $1. McCarthy was a popular sleeper coming into the season, but struggled in April, hitting .073/.170/.098 before being sent down to the Minors.
Since his return, he has hit .267/.290/.533 with two home runs and a stolen base in 31 plate appearances. There is a ton of stolen base upside if he can get on base.
Frankie Montas was picked up in 51 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $101 and a minimum bid of $2. Montas finally made his 2025 debut last week after missing the first half of the season with an injury. He was great in his first outing, too, but health and consistency have always eluded him as a professional. There is a ton of upside, but the downside is scary as well.

Nick Martinez was picked up in 30 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $85 and a minimum bid of $1. Martinez was mostly added due to the plethora of injuries to the pitching pool this year. However, he has a great two-start week next week with Miami and Colorado both coming to Cincinnati, making him a great waiver wire pickup in all formats.
Lenyn Sosa was picked up in 28 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $17 and a minimum bid of $1. Sosa played well over the last couple of weeks, hitting .268/.302/.512 with two home runs. However, he is nothing more than a deeper league depth stash with multiple positional eligibility.
Trevor Rogers was picked up in 27 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $53 and a minimum bid of $6. Rogers joined the Orioles’ rotation after the loss of Cade Povich, and he has pitched well, with a 2.87 ERA and 13 strikeouts across 15.2 innings.
The stuff isn’t overly impressive, but Rogers has been able to be a top-40 pitcher in the past, and he pitches in a great park, so he is worth the pickup in most formats.
Jacob Young was picked up in 27 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $44 and a minimum bid of $1. Young was another popular sleeper coming into the season who struggled and lost playing time. However, his speed upside is immense and he is playing every day in Washington. Young has four stolen bases in his last eight games. He is a great option if you need speed.
