Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups & FAAB Advice (2025)

We have made it through another week of the baseball season, and we are ready for the stretch run. We are back to a full schedule, allowing us to play matchups, two-steps, hot bats and more. We’ll still look for some fantasy baseball waiver wire targets to improve your teams, but some things can change now that we’re in the second half.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire & FAAB Targets

Each week, I will highlight a few players to target in your weekly waiver wire FAAB process, but keep in mind there are many others available and, more importantly, other players that may be a better fit for your teams. If you have any questions, please ask me on Twitter (@bdentrek).

Note: We use Yahoo for player percentages and recommend players rostered in no more than 60% of leagues.

Hitters

Ramon Laureano (OF – SD)

Rostered: 59%
Suggested Bid: 11%

Roman Laureano is having a great season, hitting .296 with 21 home runs and five steals. He’s been red-hot over his last 15 games, hitting safely in 13 games for a .352 batting average.

Laureano has five home runs, 13 runs, 12 RBI and a steal over the last 15 games. He is barreling the ball nearly 24% of the time with a 59.5% hard-hit rate. Laureano is playing daily for the Padres, usually hitting fifth. He should be rostered in all formats.

Luke Keaschall (2B – MIN)

Rostered: 51%
Suggested Bid: 11%

Luke Keaschall is having a great season, hitting .337 with four home runs and seven steals over 113 plate appearances. Over his last 13 games, he’s raking, hitting safely in 12 games for a .320 batting average.

Keashcall has two home runs and two steals to go with seven runs scored and six RBI in those 13 games. He’s walking nearly 14% of the time while striking out 17.2% of the time. Keaschall is hitting in the middle of the Twins’ lineup and should be in all fantasy lineups as well.

Trent Grisham (OF – NYY)

Rostered: 29%
Suggested Bid: 9%

Trent Grisham continues to shock many this season as he’s hitting .248 with 27 home runs as he entered action on Friday. Since August 1st, Grisham is hitting .253 with nine home runs, 18 runs scored and 13 RBI.

Grisham is barreling the ball 13.3% of the time with a 48% hard-hit rate while walking 14.3% of the time and striking out 17.9% of the time. Grisham is leading off for the Yankees. He can supply plenty of fantasy goodness while hitting this well.

Pitchers

Luis Morales (SP – ATH)

Rostered: 15%
Suggested Bid: 16%

Luis Morales has been solid since joining the Athletics’ rotation. Over his previous three starts, he has thrown at least five innings while allowing one run or fewer. In those three starts, Morales has allowed two earned runs over 18 innings for a 1.00 ERA and 3.44 SIERA.

Morales has 18 strikeouts and four walks for a 21.2% K-BB rate. Morales has been great and has a nice two-step on the road coming up. He’s a must-start with his upcoming schedule.

Jonah Tong (SP – NYM)

Rostered: NA%
Suggested Bid: 16%

Jonah Tong made his MLB debut on Friday night and was solid against the Marlins. Tong allowed one earned run over five innings with six hits, no walks and six strikeouts.

Over 22 starts between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Tong had a 1.43 ERA to go with 179 strikeouts and 47 walks over 113.2 innings for an impressive 29.9% K-BB rate. Tong is set to stick in the Mets’ rotation as they are going to go with a six-man rotation. He’s a must-add while he sticks around.

Payton Tolle (SP – BOS)

Rostered: NA%
Suggested Bid: 16%

Payton Tolle made his debut with the Red Sox on Friday and was solid against the Pirates. He allowed two earned runs over 5.1 innings with three hits, two walks and eight strikeouts.

Over 18 starts between High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A this season, Tolle had a 3.04 ERA with 133 strikeouts and 23 walks over 91.2 innings for a solid 30.2% K-BB rate. Tolle is a left-handed phenomenon and should stick in the Red Sox rotation for the foreseeable future. He’s a must-add.

Closers

Abner Uribe (RP – MIL)

Rostered: 41%
Suggested Bid: 22%

With Trevor Megill landing on the injured list (IL) with a Grade 1 flexor strain, Abner Uribe is expected to be the next option to close games for the Brewers.

Uribe has a 1.71 ERA and 2.86 SIERA over 63.1 innings this season. He has 78 strikeouts and 24 walks for a 21.3% K-BB rate to go with a 13.4% SwStr%. Uribe has 35 holds and three saves on the season, and he’s more than ready to save games for the Brewers.

Jose A. Ferrer (RP – WSH)

Rostered: 23%
Suggested Bid: 11%

The Nationals may not win a lot of games, but in the event of a save opportunity, Jose A. Ferrer is the man. Since the trade deadline, Ferrer has a 1.59 ERA and 1.98 SIERA over 11.1 innings.

Ferrer has 11 strikeouts and one walk for a 22.2% K-BB rate to go with a solid 15.3% SwStr%. Ferrer is 2-0 with a hold and four saves since the deadline. He should be rostered a lot more leagues.
