Fantasy Football Week 1 Questions: Start/Sit & Trade Advice

Everyone loves an Ask Me Anything (AMA), especially the fantasy football community. You can put me at the top of the list of those who love fantasy football AMA. Answering questions for a specific individual fantasy player is so much fun. Not only am I helping that fantasy player improve their team, but it also challenges me to think outside the general box of who is higher in my rankings or who to start this year.

FantasyPros does an excellent job with their Discord AMAs, giving members a chance to have their questions answered by professionals. Please join the Discord channel and reach out to me anytime with any fantasy football questions.

Fantasy Football Week 1 Questions: Start/Sit & Trade Advice

So, without further ado, let’s dive into some of the questions and answers from my Week 1 Discord AMA.

Fantasy Football Start/Sit Lineup Questions

Should I start Calvin Ridley in Week 1? Ricky Pearsall is my other option.

While I love Ridley as a WR2 pick in drafts this year, I would try to avoid starting him in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. Patrick Surtain II is arguably the top cornerback in the NFL, while the Broncos have an elite defense. Furthermore, Cam Ward’s first NFL start comes on the road in the altitude. Meanwhile, Pearsall has had a good training camp and faces a far more fantasy-friendly matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.

Can I trust starting Emeka Egbuka in Week 1?

Unless Chris Godwin miraculously plays in Week 1, fantasy players should have complete faith in starting Egbuka. The former Ohio State star had an outstanding training camp. Furthermore, he starts the season as the clear-cut No. 2 wide receiver in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offense. Fantasy players should expect this game against the Atlanta Falcons to be a shootout. DraftKings has the over/under for this matchup at 47.5 points, the second-highest in Week 1.

What should I do with Jalen Coker now that he’s on injured reserve?

Unfortunately, Coker will miss the first four games of the season with a quad injury. Fantasy players with an injured reserve spot should stash Coker until he’s ready to play. The Panthers showed faith in him by trading away Adam Thielen. Meanwhile, Hunter Renfrow takes over as the starting slot receiver. The veteran is an appealing starting flex option for fantasy players in deeper PPR leagues because of the Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Trade Questions

Would you trade Rashee Rice for Xavier Worthy or Chris Olave?

There is no way on Earth that I would trade Rice for Olave. I want nothing to do with the New Orleans Saints’ passing attack this season. However, swapping Rice for Worthy would depend on the rest of your roster. If your wide receiver depth is good enough to get you through Rice’s six-game suspension, I would hold onto him. Yet, I would trade Rice for Worthy if you’re worried about your ability to be competitive early in the year.
