Fantasy Football Stock Report: Week 5

Fantasy Football Risers

Kenneth Gainwell (RB – PIT)

Kenneth Gainwell played on only 25.9% of the Steelers’ offensive snaps in Week 3, a season-low, but managed to salvage his day with a touchdown, getting out-touched 23 to five by Jaylen Warren, seemingly falling out of favor in the backfield. However, with Warren listed as surprise inactive Sunday morning, in the first ever Ireland game, Gainwell got the start, playing on 41 out of a possible 53 (77.4%) offensive snaps, while leading the team with a 27.3% target share, and handling a career-high 26 touches for 134 yards from scrimmage and a pair of scores, finishing as a top three running back on the week. Although Warren should be back in Week 5, Gainwell has likely carved out a stand alone role in the offense, solidifying himself as one of the better handcuffs to roster.

Woody Marks (RB – HOU)

The Texans traded up in the fourth round to draft Woody Marks at No. 116 overall. However, he entered the season as the third running back on the depth chart, playing behind both Nick Chubb and Dameon Pierce. That said, Marks had seen his usage and snap share increase every week, seemingly taking over the backfield against the Titans. In Week 4, Marks outsnapped Chubb 40 to 30, handling a team-high 21 touches on 22 opportunities for nearly 120 yards (119) from scrimmage, scoring once through the air and once on the ground. When asked about Marks’s breakout performance, head coach DeMeco Ryans said “It was exciting to see Woody show up the way he showed up …Excited to see how much more he can handle.”

Stefon Diggs (WR – NE)

Stefon Diggs has been limited to start the season, but he played over 60% (63.3%) of the Patriots’ offensive snaps for the first time in Week 4. Running routes on 84.2% of the team’s dropbacks, catching six balls on seven targets for over 100 yards (101), leading New England with a 38.9% target share and 61.9% air yard share. With a long week ahead, Diggs should continue to ramp up in playing time, especially against the Bills in #RevengeGame Monday night.

Darren Waller (TE – MIA)

Darren Waller made an immediate impact in his Dolphins debut, catching three passes on four targets for 27 yards and two touchdowns. His 16% target share trailed only Tyreek Hill (24%) and Jaylen Waddle (24%) for third on the team, despite being limited in his first game back from retirement, running a route on only 40% of Tua Tagovailoa‘s dropbacks. With Hill out for the rest of the season, Waller could have a critical role in the offense as he continues to work his way up into in-game shape.

Fantasy Football Fallers

Calvin Ridley (WR – TEN)

Calvin Ridley has topped 30 yards just once in four games, has yet to catch more than four balls in any game this season. He saw a significant downtick in usage in Week 4, playing on only 54% of the Titans’ offensive snaps and running a route on 42.9% of Cam Ward‘s dropbacks, and catching two balls on four targets for 30 scoreless yards. With the emergence of fourth-round rookie (No. 136 overall) Elic Ayomanor, who leads the team in both target share (20%) and air yard share (38.2%), Ridley will be hard to trust going forward, especially without a full complement of snaps, playing in arguably the worst offense in the league.

Malik Nabers (WR – NYG)

The Giants pulled off the biggest upset of the weekend, beating the 3-0 Chargers 21-18 in Jaxson Dart‘s starting debut. However, they may have suffered an even bigger loss in Malik Nabers who was carted off with a torn ACL. The injury will require surgery, ruling Nabers out for the rest of the season and possibly the start of 2026.

Nick Chubb (RB – HOU)

Nick Chubb hasn’t looked great, but he at least had control of the backfield up until Week 4, getting outsnapped 40 to 30 by fourth-round rookie (No. 116) Woody Marks. Although he still saw 15 opportunities, handling 13 carries and catching both of his targets for 62 yards from scrimmage, Chubb’s 37.1% rush share was a season-low, slowly falling out of favor in the backfield.

Tyreek Hill (WR – MIA)

Tyreek Hill got off to a hot start Monday night, catching all six of his targets for 67 yards in just over a half, on his way to a huge game before suffering a leg injury early in the third quarter. He ended up getting carted off and was immediately rushed to the hospital to undergo surgery, putting an end to his season and possibly his tenure with the Dolphins.
