DraftBattle: Week 8 Targets
Oronde Gadsden Jr. (TE – LAC)
Gadsden may not be someone you want to target as your TE1 for Week 8, given the league size at DraftBattle, but he is certainly someone to target as a best ball flex or bench piece. His performance in Week 7 was scintillating and highlighted why the coaching staff was so effusive with their praise for the rookie this offseason. Oronde, a college wide receiver until his sophomore year, is an ideal match for an offense that lacked any semblance of a playmaker at the position. Gadsden may not come close to matching the tight end rookie record 164 receiving yards and a touchdown off of seven receptions he posted against Indianapolis again this season, but his 73.7 percent route share with Will Dissly active suggests that this is the Gadsden show outside of obvious running downs. Target the rookie tight end for Week 8 at DraftBattle.
Tez Johnson (WR – TB)
Tez had a mini breakout on Monday Night Football, hauling in four of his nine targets for 58 receiving yards and one touchdown. The trip to the end zone was electric, as the rookie receiver hit a Madden highlight-worthy hurdle and spin move en route to pay dirt. Tez figures to maintain a heavy volume role for Week 8 as Emeka Egbuka is playing injured, Mike Evans was lost for weeks with a broken collarbone, and Chris Godwin is dealing with a fibula injury. Johnson proved he belonged on Monday night and said as much with an expletive-filled exclamation once he found the end zone camera. The fantasy world would have gone crazy if Baker Mayfield had been able to connect with him on the second potential TD. Tez is an excellent mid to late round best ball target who can reward fantasy managers with a day big enough to supplant an option drafted before him at DraftBattle for Week 8. Target the young Buccaneers receiver where possible.
Romeo Doubs (WR – GB)
Doubs is the perfect type of late round best ball target for Week 8 at DraftBattle. He is not going to score three touchdowns every week like he did back in Week 6, but has been one of the top red zone options in the NFL. Romeo has seen a 28.6 percent red zone target share, with his six targets placing him ninth in the NFL. All four of his touchdowns this season were red zone scores. Target Doubs in the mid to late rounds, a best ball special for Week 8 at DraftBattle.
