View More NotesWell, Romeo Doubs didn't exactly have the start to his Pats career that he or we fantasy managers wanted. Doubs laid a goose egg in Week 1 as he failed to secure any of his three targets. With AJ Brown on the shelf, the Pats and Drake Maye will have to lean on him more in Week 2. In Week 1, he had a 69% route share, a 9.1% target share, and a 14.8% first-read share. He saw one red zone target and a deep target. In Week 1, Pittsburgh deployed two high with 57.7% of their defensive snaps (12th-highest rate). Last season, with the Packers against two high, Doubs saw his target-per-route run rate climb from 21% (against single high) to 23% and his yards per route run stay stable at 1.86. Doubs could operate as the Pats' clear WR1 in Week 2. After facing Cooper Rush in Week 1, I don't think there's much to take away from the Steelers against perimeter wide receivers, but last season against them the Steelers allowed the 12th-fewest yards per target while ranking 17th in fantasy points per opportunity. Doubs is a volume-based flex play in Week 2.

Doubs had a rough Week 1 but bounced back to lead the Patriots' wide receivers in yardage in Week 2, including an impressive 63-yard reception. With A.J. Brown on injured reserve, Doubs has the opportunity to lead the Patriots' wide receiver room until he returns. Doubs and the Patriots will travel to Jacksonville in Week 3.
