Brandon Aubrey continues to be a cheat code in fantasy football and for the Dallas Cowboys, with a ho-hum 17-point performance on Sunday against the Commanders. Aubrey set an NFL record with his sixth career field goal of over 60 yards when he calmly drilled a 61-yarder against Washington. Considering that Aubrey is in just his third NFL season, he is likely to double and triple that record before he hangs up his cleats.
Lucas Havrisik also made history with a 61-yard field goal of his own, setting a new Green Bay Packer record for the longest kick in team history. The previous record of 58 yards was held by former Packers great Mason Crosby.

Why are we seeing an increase in long field goals? A recent change to the league’s kicking-ball policy is a big reason. Before 2025, teams received their K-balls just 90 minutes before kickoff, giving kickers little time to break them in. Now, each team has access to three K-balls all week, allowing kickers to practice and “work in” the same balls used in games. The result: More consistent feel, better control and noticeably longer makes on Sundays
Fantasy Football Kicker Rankings & Start/Sit Advice: Week 8
Widely Available Kickers With Strong Week 7 Performances
Will Reichard (K – MIN) vs. Philadelphia: 7% Roster Percentage on Yahoo
Will Reichard led all scorers with 18 fantasy points on Sunday against the Eagles, while taking advantage of suspect quarterback play from Carson Wentz. He made five field goals and one extra point to post his second double-digit game of the season.
Jake Moody (K – CHI) vs. New Orleans: 3% Roster Percentage on Yahoo
As a 49ers fan, it pains me to write this, but Jake Moody appears to have found his place with the Bears. He has 29 fantasy points in his last two games, including a 15-point performance against the Saints. There is still a bit of PTSD in my brain that is limiting my ability to recommend him as a play, but it would not surprise me to see him score another big week on the road against the Ravens.
Widely Rostered Kickers With Dud Week 7 Performances
Chase McLaughlin (K – TB) @ Detroit: 82% Roster Percentage on Yahoo
Chase McLaughlin was the only kicker rostered in over 80% of fantasy leagues to score five or fewer points in Week 7. I would not panic, as he will likely bounce back with a top-five performance this week in the dome against the Saints.

For example, the Ravens rank third in red zone efficiency; therefore, Tyler Loop has an RZ EFF score of 29. The lower the number, the better for kickers, as playing on a team that struggles to score touchdowns in the red zone equates to more field goal opportunities.
**The K Score is the sum of a player’s opponent red zone, the red-zone efficiency of his offense and the overall rank of his respective team in terms of total yards. A low score indicates that a kicker has variables working in his favor for a good fantasy kicking performance.
Kicker rankings are based on numerous factors, including matchups, Vegas lines and score projections, weather conditions, the ability of a kicker’s team offense and their ability to move the ball into field goal range, offensive red-zone efficiency and how well the opposing defense limits touchdowns in the red zone. These factors are a guide, but not a definitive way to predict kicking success, as other variables and negative game scripts significantly impact the outcome.
Based on all of the variables mentioned above, the following two kickers are players ranked outside of FantasyPros’ top-10 expert consensus rankings (ECR) at the kicker position who could be excellent plays in Week 8.
Week 8 Standout Kickers
Matt Prater (K – BUF) @ Carolina: 10% Roster Percentage on Yahoo
Matt Prater comes off the bye and is treated to a positive game script with a road matchup against the Panthers. The veteran has been somewhat of a disappointment over the last four weeks after starting strong, but he should have an excellent performance with a K Score of 38.
Parker Romo (K – ATL) vs. Miami: 2% Roster Percentage on Yahoo
It may sound crazy to recommend Parker Romo after last week’s debacle, but this situation is so much better for the Falcons. The Dolphins have given up the third-most points to opposing kickers; they are playing at home in the dome and he boasts a K Score of 35. Look for a floor of seven fantasy points with a ceiling of 12.
Prediction Review
Each week, I suggest two kickers ranked outside the FantasyPros ECR top 10 who I believe will be solid performers based on the variables described in the K Score section. The following is a review of my picks from the previous week to see where I was successful and where I missed the mark.
Andy Borregales (K – NE) @ Tennessee: 2% Roster Percentage on Yahoo
- ECR Rank: K16
- My Rank: K10
- Week 7 Finish: T-K12
The Patriots’ offense proved to be even more efficient against the Titans, scoring four touchdowns in their blowout win. Andy Borregales managed a respectable seven fantasy points and performed closer to his K Score rank than his ECR.
Parker Romo (K – ATL) @ San Francisco: 2% Roster Percentage on Yahoo
- ECR Rank: K22
- My Rank: K11
- Week 7 Finish: K21
After an impressive win against the Bills in Week 6, the Falcons’ offense went missing in action against a 49ers defense decimated by injuries. The result was a disappointing performance by all Falcons position players, including Parker Romo.
