The tight end position matters greatly in fantasy football. Tight ends are not as flashy as their route-running counterparts at wide receiver. Most of them do not normally get the same volume of touches as fantasy-relevant running backs. That can sometimes lead to them being overlooked or treated as an afterthought. Do not make that mistake.
The tight end pool is the shallowest of them all in terms of fantasy. Finding production there weekly can be incredibly challenging, especially for those who did not invest in one of the top options during draft season.
One way to find success at the position is by carefully playing the waiver wire week-to-week. The goal of this weekly article is to help fantasy managers do just that by finding low-rostered tight ends in the best situations for that particular week.

Week 7 Fantasy Football Tight End Streamers & Waiver Wire Pickups
The following tight ends are rostered in fewer than 75% of Yahoo! leagues.
Harold Fannin Jr. (TE – CLE) vs. MIA | 24% Rostered
With fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel taking over at quarterback for the Browns a couple of weeks ago, Fannin has climbed back up the TE board. The third-round pick out of Bowling Green finished with just 13 receiving yards in Week 5, but he hauled in all four of his targets, including his first NFL touchdown. Fannin followed that up this past Sunday with a new career-high 81 yards on seven grabs against the Steelers.

The Dolphins have not done a great job against opposing TEs so far this season, or really against the pass overall. The unit ranks 20th in passing yards allowed per game (220.8) and is allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game (half-point PPR) to the position. Fannin is set up for another strong showing in Week 7.
Cade Otton (TE – TB) at DET | 12% Rostered
This is a show that fantasy managers have seen before. The Tampa Bay receiving corps has been ravaged by injuries, leaving Otton to pick up the slack among QB Baker Mayfield‘s options. The fourth-year pro has gotten it done over the last two weeks, bringing down 9-of-11 targets for a combined 132 yards.
The Buccaneers have an extra day this week for their injured players to recover, as they will not play until Monday night. However, with Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and now Emeka Egbuka all on the injury watchlist this week, Otton could be in for another solid output. Notably, the Lions gave up over 100 yards between Chiefs tight ends Travis Kelce and Noah Gray this past Sunday night.
Darnell Washington (TE – PIT) at CIN | 0% Rostered
Here’s a chance to get on the Washington train before everyone else does, and he is, indeed, a “train.”

Selected in the third round of the 2023 draft out of Georgia, Washington is finally getting the chance to show what he can do for Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers offense, as his snap share has risen to 91% and 80% respectively in the last two games. Washington caught all three of his targets, totaling 20 yards back in Week 4. He came out of the Steelers’ bye week this past Sunday with a new career-best 62 receiving yards on three more receptions.
Washington will face off with the division-rival Bengals on Thursday night. Only the Jets (6) have given up more touchdowns to tight ends than the Cincy unit (5) on the campaign, so Washington has a great chance to get on the board in that category this week.
