Injury Outlook

Lamar Jackson (hamstring) ruled out for Sunday
Lamar Jackson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Impact

Jackson will not be available to play on Sunday. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as he is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and Baltimore has a bye week coming up next week. It looks like Cooper Rush will remain the starter for the Ravens, which is less than ideal for all of the fantasy options on their offense in a less-than-ideal matchup against the Rams.

Waiver Wire Replacements to Target

Sam Darnold (QB – SEA)

Last week, Darnold had a top-five fantasy performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former USC star completed 82.4% of his 34 pass attempts for 341 yards, four touchdowns, and 27.6 fantasy points, setting season-highs in every category. Yet, the veteran has been one of the better fantasy quarterbacks since his poor Week 1 performance. Darnold has averaged 274 passing yards, 2.3 touchdowns, and 19.1 fantasy points per game over the past four weeks, totaling two or more scores and at least 16.1 fantasy points in all but one contest.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars have played well on defense. While Jacksonville had only one turnover last week, they forced at least three in each of the first four games this season, including nine interceptions. However, the Jaguars have struggled to slow down opposing quarterbacks. They have given up 287 passing yards, 1.8 touchdowns, and 19.9 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks since Week 1. Furthermore, Patrick Mahomes had 26.7 fantasy points against Jacksonville last week despite having only one passing touchdown. Expect Darnold to keep up his recent hot play.

Bryce Young (QB – CAR)

Bryce Young is the preferred streaming option at quarterback this week, thanks to a matchup against a Cowboys pass defense capable of making average quarterbacks look like Tom Brady. Young might not even qualify as average, however. He’s averaging 5.4 yards per pass attempt and has topped 200 passing yards in only one of his five games this season. But Young has a Week 6 date with a Dallas defense that’s being torched for 304 passing yards per game this season. The Cowboys have allowed 12 touchdown passes and are yielding 8.4 yards per pass attempt. Young’s matchup against the Jets in Week 7 isn’t a bad one either.
