NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer
NBA DFS Core Plays
- DraftKings: $11,700
- FanDuel: $12,000
Nikola Jokic draws a great matchup tonight against a Phoenix Suns team playing on zero days of rest. Through two games, the Suns rank 28th in defensive efficiency, and their interior defense has looked especially vulnerable.
Jokic has dominated this matchup in recent meetings, averaging 27.2 points, 11.6 rebounds and 10 assists over his last five contests against Phoenix. With the Denver Nuggets’ offense running through him, Jokic remains one of the most reliable high-priced plays on the slate and carries triple-double upside tonight.
- DraftKings: $10,700
- FanDuel: $11,600
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been unbelievable to start the season, averaging 45 points, 6.5 rebounds, five assists, two steals and 1.5 blocks per game. He’s posted an elite 38.8% usage rate through the first two contests and could be leaned on even more if Chet Holmgren (back), who is listed as questionable, is unable to play.
The matchup also sets up well, as the Atlanta Hawks have opened the year playing at the fifth-fastest pace. The combination of usage, production and game environment makes Gilgeous-Alexander one of the premier plays on tonight’s slate.
- DraftKings: $6,400
- FanDuel: $6,800
Bennedict Mathurin made a statement on opening night, showing that he’ll be one of the primary leaders for the Indiana Pacers alongside Pascal Siakam, with Tyrese Haliburton (Achilles) out for the season. Mathurin erupted for 36 points and 11 rebounds in Thursday’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder while posting a 26.5% usage rate, second-highest on the team.
Mathurin now draws a favorable matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies, who have played at the second-fastest pace in the league to start the season. With his expanded role, scoring volume and an up-tempo game environment, Mathurin stands out as a strong DFS target once again.

NBA DFS Cash Game Targets
- DraftKings: $8,300
- FanDuel: $9,000
Pascal Siakam is coming off a dominant performance Thursday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, posting 32 points, 15 rebounds and four assists. He’s in another strong spot tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies, who are dealing with multiple injuries, playing on zero days of rest and rank 26th in defensive efficiency through two games.
Given his all-around production and the favorable matchup, Siakam profiles as one of the safest high-upside plays on the slate, with a strong chance to deliver another big night.
- DraftKings: $6,000
- FanDuel: $5,500
VJ Edgecombe, the third overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, made a huge impression in his debut, posting 35 points, seven rebounds and three assists over 42 minutes. He finished the game shooting 50% from the field with a 30.2% usage rate, showcasing his ability to contribute efficiently across multiple categories.
According to the FantasyPros’ lineup optimizer, Edgecombe is projected to be the third-highest scoring player in fantasy points tonight, making him an especially appealing option at his price. His combination of volume, efficiency and opportunity gives him tremendous upside on this slate.
- DraftKings: $3,400
- FanDuel: $4,800
Ryan Kalkbrenner, the 34th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, impressed in his debut with 10 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks over 27 minutes. He’s once again at an appealing price point and faces a frontcourt dealing with injuries, along with Joel Embiid, who is still working to regain rhythm and confidence after extended time off. Kalkbrenner’s combination of size and activity on the glass makes him an intriguing value option.

NBA DFS GPP Targets
- DraftKings: $9,200
- FanDuel: $8,900
Devin Booker didn’t deliver the fantasy production his price tag demands last night against the Los Angeles Clippers, finishing with 18 points, seven assists and three rebounds. He was notably conservative, attempting just 10 shots, but that trend should shift tonight against the Denver Nuggets.
Booker fared well against Denver last season, averaging 29 points, 6.5 rebounds and five assists in two games. While some may worry about him playing on zero days of rest, he logged only 28 minutes last night and should be fully ready to go tonight, making him a strong target with upside.
- DraftKings: $8,600
- FanDuel: $8,100
Nikola Vucevic celebrated his 35th birthday on Friday and gets to face the team where his career began, the Orlando Magic — a perfect narrative story for tonight’s slate. He dominated in the season opener against the Detroit Pistons, posting 28 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and one steal while recording the second-highest usage on his team at 24.7%.
Vucevic may be overlooked tonight with Nikola Jokic and some cheaper options drawing attention at the center position, but his combination of opportunity and upside makes him an excellent tournament play.
- DraftKings: $6,900
- FanDuel: $6,200
Aaron Gordon absolutely erupted on opening night against the Golden State Warriors, dropping 50 points while shooting 81% from the field and 90% from beyond the arc. He finished second on the Denver Nuggets in usage rate, trailing only Nikola Jokic.
While it’s unrealistic to expect that kind of performance every game, Gordon’s price and situation make him worth consideration again tonight. Many DFS players will chase his breakout, and it’s understandable — especially with the Phoenix Suns on zero days of rest, setting up another favorable spot for Gordon to deliver solid production at a strong value.

NBA DFS Value Plays
- DraftKings: $4,300
- FanDuel: $4,700
Nickeil Alexander-Walker earned the start on Friday and, despite struggling from beyond the arc (1-of-10 on three-point attempts), he still managed 19 points, one rebound, four assists and one steal in 31 minutes. If Zacharie Risacher is sidelined again, Alexander-Walker is likely to start once more, making him a strong value play with plenty of opportunity to contribute against an Oklahoma City Thunder squad dealing with multiple injuries.
- DraftKings: $4,600
- FanDuel: $4,400
Ajay Mitchell has made the most of his increased minutes amid a depleted backcourt for the Oklahoma City Thunder. For tonight’s contest, Isaiah Joe (knee), Alex Caruso (concussion) and Jalen Williams (wrist) have all been ruled out, while Cason Wallace (knee) remains questionable. If Wallace suits up, Mitchell could see a slight dip in playing time, but he still offers great value at his current price point.
Mitchell has been highly productive off the bench, posting a 28.9% usage rate while averaging 21 points, 2.5 rebounds and three assists. His scoring efficiency and usage make him an appealing value play.
- DraftKings: $3,800
- FanDuel: $4,700
Ben Sheppard is expected to enter the starting lineup for the Indiana Pacers with Andrew Nembhard (shoulder), T.J. McConnell (hamstring) and Quenton Jackson (hamstring) all sidelined for tonight’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. He should see heavy minutes once again after playing 39 in Thursday’s double-overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he tallied 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
With Indiana’s backcourt thin, Sheppard’s projected workload makes him a strong value play, especially if he continues to contribute across multiple categories.
