Fantasy Basketball Category League Waiver Wire Pickups
Points
Keldon Johnson (PF – SAS) | 33% Rostered
Keldon Johnson is on the rise with solid performances off the bench in his past three games. Although the Spurs have a crowded roster with numerous talented young players, Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle are still recovering from their respective injuries and are not yet ready to return to action.
The Spurs have shown that they are willing to rely on Johnson, at least for the time being, so he’s definitely the pickup to make for next week while he’s still rolling.
Assists
Vince Williams Jr. (PF – MEM) | 28% Rostered
With Ja Morant out til early December, who is the man in Memphis right now? Why, it’s Vince Williams of course! November has been a month to remember for the third year forward – he’s shown that he can put up consistent game-to-game fantasy performances while Memphis is missing its star guard.|
This past Thursday, Williams exploded against Sacramento with 15 assists in just 24 minutes. He needs to be added while he’s still available in most leagues.
Rebounds
Peyton Watson (PF – DEN) | 21% Rostered
Watson has been on a rebounding tear the past two games, and he’s played no less than 34 minutes over his last four. He’s flourished in his new starting role with teammate Christian Braun sidelined with an ankle injury.
Fantasy managers have been waiting for Peyton Watson to get going this season, and this stretch is shaping up as a breakout moment for the third-year forward. Now is the time to add Watson with the hope that you’ll be able to hold him at least through December, but possibly the rest of the season.
Blocks
Jay Huff (C – IND) | 8% Rostered
Although the Pacers have shaken up their rotation quite a bit this season, Jay Huff has served as an excellent rim-protecting specialist with at least 1 block in all but one of his games played in November. Huff has also shown that he’s very capable of contributing in other categories with additional minutes.
With Obi Toppin sidelined until early February with a foot injury, Huff has shown that he can be the guy to hold down the Pacers’ frontcourt off the bench. Make him a priority add if you need help in the blocks category.
Steals
Ryan Dunn (PF – PHO) | 21% Rostered
Ryan Dunn is on the rise once again for the Suns while Grayson Allen nurses a quadriceps injury. Dunn has averaged 1.1 steals in eight starts this season and can absolutely provide a lift in that category with the extended minutes.
This may be a short-term add to make for fantasy managers, and you’ll have to keep an eye on the team’s injury report. However, it’s a low-risk add that could provide some nice returns, at least for the next week.
Three-Pointers Made
Julian Champagnie (SG – SAS) | 12% Rostered
Julian Champagnie is on a hot shooting run at the moment, nailing over 45% of his triples in the past four games. As mentioned earlier, the Spurs are dealing with some key injuries at the moment, and like Keldon Johnson, Champagnie is another name to check in on.
Champagnie is good for at least a couple of made threes per game with 31 total three-point attempts over his latest stretch. His impressive performances should hopefully continue well into next week.
Field Goal Percentage
Anthony Black (SF – ORL) | 25% Rostered
Although Jalen Suggs has returned from injury, Anthony Black is still finding ways to be productive on the court and turn in some solid fantasy outings despite his fluctuating minutes. Things have been turning up for the young forward as of late – he’s shot at least 44% from the field in each of his last 3 games and played no less than 29 minutes.
Anthony Black doesn’t seem to be in a position to jump the starting lineup anytime soon, but he’s served well at the Magic’s 6-man this season and can definitely help fantasy managers in spots.
Free-Throw Percentage
Brandon Williams (PG – DAL) | 45% Rostered
Brandon Williams was featured in last week’s edition of this article, but he’s still not rostered in enough leagues. Williams has outperformed D’Angelo Russell as of late and shows no signs of slowing down at the moment.
With his solid points and assists numbers, Williams has also been perfect from the line in his past 3 games. If he’s somehow still available in your league, you’ll definitely want to grab him for a nice boost in these categories.
