We have learned a lot in the first 13 weeks of the season, so we can use that to inform our lineup decisions. The best way to do so is to focus on the matchup, consider the game script and compare your thoughts with FantasyPros’ expert consensus rankings (ECR).
You’ll find three fantasy football booms to start and three busts to bench for Week 14. By this point in the season, we have a good sense of player projections. With that in mind, let’s make those lineup decisions easier for you in Week 14.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Start/Sit Advice
Fantasy Football Boom Starts
Jordan Love (QB – GB) vs. CHI
Since Christian Watson returned to action in Week 8, Jordan Love has shown a high ceiling. This includes 28.3 fantasy points in Week 8 and 25.8 in Week 13.
Up next is an exploitable matchup at home against the Bears, who are tied for 29th in fantasy points per game allowed to quarterbacks. Love looks like a top-10 quarterback this week.
Devaughn Vele (WR – NO) at TB
Devaughan Vele is coming off a big game for the Saints, where he hauled in all eight of his targets for 93 yards and a touchdown. The Saints wideout has combined for 15 targets in his last two games.
You have to like the matchup against the Buccaneers this week, as they rank 22nd in fantasy points per game allowed to wideouts. Vele is firmly within the WR3 range for this week.
Darren Waller (TE – MIA) at NYJ
Darren Waller has done nothing but produce when he’s been on the field this season. The veteran tight end now has four touchdowns in only four games.
When the Dolphins faced the Jets earlier this year, Waller scored two touchdowns. I’ll fire up the former Raider as a top-10 tight end this week, given his prominent role in the Dolphins’ offense.
Fantasy Football Bust Sits
Patrick Mahomes (QB – KC) vs. HOU
Patrick Mahomes has had a productive season, but this is a week to consider leaving him on your bench. Not only do the Texans have an elite defense, but they’ve been especially effective against quarterbacks this season.
Houston is allowing only 15.6 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, which ranks first in the NFL. Even Josh Allen didn’t do much against this group. Considering these circumstances, Mahomes is out of my top-12 quarterback rankings this week.
Xavier Worthy (WR – KC) vs. HOU
Xavier Worthy has been one of the biggest disappointments in fantasy football this season. The second-year wideout is likely already on a lot of benches, but I need to make sure he’s firmly entrenched there for all of your teams.
That’s because the Texans are allowing the third-fewest fantasy points per game to wideouts this year. I’d start Devaughan Vele over Worthy this week without hesitation.
Oronde Gadsden II (TE – LAC) vs. PHI
Oronde Gadsden has had a promising rookie season, but he hasn’t been productive lately, ranking as the fantasy TE26 in his last four games. There’s no reason to be optimistic this week, especially with a banged-up Justin Herbert.
It’s a tough spot versus the Eagles, who are allowing the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends this year.
