3 Wide Receivers to Avoid (2026 Fantasy Football)

Find out why I think that Garrett Wilson, Christian Watson, and DK Metcalf are early overvalued fantasy football wide receivers to avoid right now.

Fantasy Football Wide Receivers to Target

Garrett Wilson (WR – NYJ)

We all know that Garrett Wilson is one of the most talented wideouts in the league. The problem is only that he’s been held back by poor quarterback play. However, coming off an injury-plagued season, Wilson is currently overpriced at WR16 in FantasyPros consensus rankings.

The expectation here is that the Jets are going to get an upgrade at quarterback, but who is available that excites you? Fernando Mendoza is the likely first overall pick and Dante Moore went back to college, so the Jets aren’t in position to draft one. Can they sign Malik Willis or trade for Tua Tagovailoa? Sure, but is that enough to push Wilson to WR16?

We need more of a discount to invest in Wilson, especially since the Jets still have Aaron Glenn as head coach, coming off an abysmal first year.

Christian Watson (WR – GB)

Christian Watson is WR26 in FantasyPros consensus rankings, which feels like a premium for him. The best way to approach a Packers wideout in Matt LaFleur’s wide receiver-by-committee offense is to just take the cheapest one. This allows you to avoid disappointment.

Yes, Romeo Doubs will likely sign elsewhere, but Jayden Reed will be healthy, and who knows, maybe Matthew Golden can take on an enhanced role.

I just can’t trust Watson at this cost, especially since he’s dealt with injuries throughout his career.

DK Metcalf (WR – PIT)

DK Metcalf isn’t necessarily expensive, currently WR30 in FantasyPros consensus rankings, but this feels like a floor pick. Metcalf hasn’t shown a high ceiling at all in his last few years.

Yes, Mike McCarthy should help out the offense, but Aaron Rodgers is still the quarterback.

Why take Metcalf when I can draft Marvin Harrison Jr. or Rome Odunze later?
