Catchers
Carlos Narvaez (C – BOS)
Carlos Narvaez was great before hurting his knee and then struggled the rest of the way. With the knee healed, he should be a nice bounce-back candidate.
Infielders
Colt Keith (1B, 2B, 3B, DH – DET)
Colt Keith is someone I am not ready to give up on. Yes, he is a platoon player, but he also leads off when he is in the lineup. I also haven’t given up on him figuring out left-handed pitching.
Keith has plenty of power, a very good hit tool and is eligible at multiple positions. He’s a great bench target.
Outfielders
TJ Friedl (OF – CIN)
TJ Friedl isn’t going to light up the stat sheet for you, but he leads off in one of the best offensive environments at the top of a really good lineup. If he stays healthy, he could score 100+ runs with a 15/25 line.
Konnor Griffin (SS, OF – PIT)
Unfortunately, the news now looks like it is less likely that Konnor Griffin will make the team out of camp. However, he is a generational talent who could force the issue early for a Pirates team that wants to be more competitive.
Jac Caglianone (1B, OF – KC)
The rookie season was disappointing, but the underlying numbers were much better than the surface ones. Jac Caglianone hits the ball extremely hard and has a very good contact profile. The Royals moving in the fences should help, too. This is an easy buy.
Pitchers
Cam Schlittler (SP – NYY)
I honestly wasn’t expecting to get Cam Schlittler for just a dollar, but I will take it. He was fantastic in his rookie season, and the stuff was unreal. He needs to keep the walks in check, but if he can, he will win a ton of games for the Yankees.
Ryne Nelson (SP, RP – ARI)
I am a big believer in the skills we have seen from Ryne Nelson over his first few seasons. Now he will finally get to enter the season as a cemented starter.
Nelson is reportedly refining his curveball and slider in the hopes of becoming less dependent on his fastball to go deeper into games. If he does, he could take a massive leap forward.
Parker Messick (SP – CLE)
Parker Messick is one of my favorite late-game pitchers. He has fantastic command and control, and the stuff is better than he gets credit for. The Guardians organization is great with pitching development, and he should be a nice workhorse for them.
Zebby Matthews (SP – MIN)
Zebby Matthews has all the talent in the world to be a top-tier starting pitcher. He just needs to put it together. He has the type of upside that can win you your league.
