Let’s dive into the fantasy football impact of the Colts re-signing free agent wide receiver Alec Pierce.

Fantasy Football Impact | Colts Re-Sign Alec Pierce

Alec Pierce was one of the most coveted free-agent receivers on the market, and the Colts decided that they couldn’t let Pierce get away.

The Colts are re-signing Pierce to a four-year deal worth a reported $116 million, as first reported by the Pat McAfee Show. The deal reportedly includes a $16 million signing bonus and $84 million in guaranteed money.

A four-year veteran, Pierce is coming off his finest NFL season to date. He had 47 catches for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games. That came on the heels of an eye-opening 2024 season in which he had 37 catches for 824 yards and seven TDs.

Had they let Pierce get away, the Colts wouldn’t have had a true vertical threat among their wide receivers. Michael Pittman led the Colts with 80 receptions last season but averaged just 9.8 yards per catch. Slot receiver Josh Downs also averaged 9.8 yards per catch.

Pierce had an average depth of target of 18.9 yards in 2025, He’s led the league in yards per catch in each of the last two seasons, with 22.3 YPC in 2024 and 21.3 YPC in 2025.

Pierce’s role could expand now that the Colts have traded Pittman to the Steelers. Pittman averaged 5.6 targets per game last season, and while he’ll share targets with Downs and TE Tyler Warren, he could be targeted more frequently in 2026 with Pittman out of the picture (although the Colts will probably draft at least one wide receiver).

Pierce finished WR22 in half-point PPR fantasy points per game last season among receivers who played at least eight games. He was WR25 in PPR fantasy points per game.

The Colts have QB questions for 2026, however. Daniel Jones played well for Indianapolis last season, but he tore his Achilles in Week 14, and he is currently unsigned — although Jones is reportedly negotiating a new deal with the Colts.

Fantasy Football Rankings Updates for Alec Pierce

  • I’m ranking Pierce WR38 in full-point PPR and WR35 in half-point PPR, and WR34 in standard scoring. His FantasyPros Expert Consensus Ranking in half-point PPR is WR43, although Pierce’s ECR doesn’t account for the late-breaking Pittman trade.
  • In dynasty, I have Pierce ranked WR36 as he enters his age-26 season.
