Welcome to our weekly fantasy baseball risers and fallers column. In this article, I’ll provide three risers and three fallers based on what has transpired in the previous week.
Given that we’re over a month into the season, there are more options to choose from. We now know how managers are deploying their players, with some surprisingly receiving less playing time than initially expected. We also have a few young hitters who are making their presence felt immediately.

Fantasy Baseball Risers
Mickey Moniak (OF – COL)
Mickey Moniak has been scorching hot at the plate, slashing .368/.455/.895 with three home runs in 22 plate appearances in the last seven days. This comes after a breakout season with 24 homers and nine steals in only 107 plate appearances last year.
Moniak has found a home with the Rockies, emerging as a fixture in fantasy baseball.
Kazuma Okamoto (1B – TOR)
Kazuma Okamoto has caught fire after a challenging start to his MLB career, slashing .259/.333/.704 with four home runs in 30 plate appearances in the last seven days.
Okamoto is a hitter with 30+ home run power who won’t hurt you too much in batting average, so enjoy the ride going forward.
Ozzie Albies (2B – ATL)
Ozzie Albies has been scorching hot, slashing .429/.519/.857 with two home runs in his last six games over the last seven days. It’s been a major bounce-back campaign for Albies, with a 157 wRC+.
Remember, there’s a track record here. It could be that Albies just rediscovered his form after a couple of injury-plagued years.
Fantasy Baseball Fallers
Matt Chapman (3B – SFG)
Matt Chapman continues to struggle at the plate, slashing .083/.185/.125 with zero home runs in 27 plate appearances in the last seven days.
This puts his season-long line at .246/.324/.331 with one home run in 145 plate appearances. There’s enough of a track record here to hold, but it’s worth highlighting his slow start.
Ceddanne Rafaela (2B, OF – BOS)
Ceddanne Rafaela was one of my favorite breakout picks, but he’s struggling right now, slashing .158/.200/.158 with zero homers and one steal in his last seven days, spanning 20 plate appearances.
I’m still hopeful that Rafaela can break out, but perhaps we need to temper our expectations in the near future until he starts showing more at the plate.
Jake Burger (1B – TEX)
Jake Burger got off to a nice start, but he’s cooled off lately, slashing .174/.208/.348 with one home run in 24 plate appearances in the last seven days.
Burger is a streaky hitter who has gone cold. This is what Burger always does. It’s why he was available so late in drafts. Hold Burger until he gets hot again.
