Closer News & Notes
- Cade Smith became the first closer to 20 saves this season. Mason Miller (17) and Bryan Baker (15) follow with closers who have at least 15 saves on the season.
- It remains a bit of a rocky season for Andres Munoz as he blew his fourth save of the season on Friday. He remains locked into the closer role in Seattle, with Matt Brash also struggling for the first time this season on Friday.
- Abner Uribe is facing a one-game suspension. He is expected to appeal it.
- The Tigers placed Kenley Jansen on the 15-day injured list (IL). Kyle Finnegan blew his first save chance afterward. That will be a situation to monitor for a struggling Detroit team.
- Ryan Helsley threw from flat ground on Friday as he continues to make progress working his way back.
